I typed “Mark 16:31” on a slide. There is no Mark 16:31. It should have been Mark 9:31. Apologies for the confusion, mistakes are mortifying 🤦🏽‍♂️

Great lesson and great question. I've always believed Jesus died on Friday because my family taught us that the Jewish law/calendar were 12 hours to each day and 12 hours to each night. I had no problem believing Sunday was the 3rd day, but was confused about the 3 nights prior to Sunday morning. But with the 12 hours, I can see the 3 days. Noon was considered the 6th hours and sunset was the first 3 stars seen, but im open to understanding it better. The calendar is challenging within itself. But im glad Jesus is Risen! Enjoyed the lesson and have a blessed Resurrection Sunday ❤...thank you for the notes.(that question has always been an ongoing conversation yet to dive in deeper). But its Friday for me😊

The Bible states, in all four gospels that Jesus was crucified on preparation day: Matthew 27:62; Mark 15:42; Luke 23:54; and John 19:14, 31 and rose again on the first day of the week.🙏🏽

It’s not the day, it’s the fact that He died & was resurrected!!! The Bible says don’t hold so tight to a day

Regarding the question, “On what day do you say Jesus was crucified on?” My Answer: Jews began their religious holidays in the evening at sundown. The evening and the morning is one day according to Genesis. During Holy Week, Jesus washed the disciples’ feet on Thursday at the Last Supper. He was crucified Friday morning around 9:00a.m. and then died around 3:00 Friday afternoon. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus buried Jesus in a tomb that was near the cross before the 6:00p.m. Sabbath began. Mary Magdalene and the other women were unable to come to the tomb with spices on the Sabbath because of Jewish laws, so they came early Sunday morning and found the tomb empty. So… Friday was Day 1. Sabbath was Day 2. And according to Matt. 17:23, Mark 9:31, Luke 24:7, and Acts 10:40, Jesus rose on the third day, Sunday morning. >>Dee Richardson

This was such a good lesson, thank you so much for breaking it down to us. I have a question, can you explain why in this verse 34, did they use the name of Simon, instead of Peter.
This lesson was so encouraging to me.
Happy Resurrection Sunday!!!
