Показать описание
Royal Marines who want to become scout snipers have to undergo a 13-week course made up of three modules - and they only have two attempts to get it right.

After perfecting their long-range precision with the L115 A3 sniper rifle on the initial marksmanship module, they move onto the skills module run by the Commando Training Centre.

This module is made up of four parts – mobile observation, static observation, map stance and stalking.

Lesson ONE. NEVER leave your personal weapon on Dartmoor.

Passed the RM Sniper course in 1977. Back then it was the L42A1, basically a modified Lee Enfield. Obs was the hardest part of the course. Definitely a hard course to pass, but one of the best tests of soldiering skills there is.

I served several years in Recce Pln (also COP in Northern Ireland) . Infantry. Wasn’t a sniper. But the advent of drones is a surveillance game-changer.

When I was in training with the RM in 2019 one of my coorporals had just come off a 2 week sniper course. He was exceptionally irritable when he first arrived with our troop after being that uncomfortable for that long. Safe to say we paid the price of any mistakes made😂

Do they receive sloped roof training? It seems to be very difficult.

Nice one. 1970’s COP log:
“Female; aged over 30 years; height approx 5 foot, 4 inch; pale skin; dyed, breast length hair; flat breasts; dodgy teeth; lime green floral pattern frock; mustard cardigan.”

That dress made my day 😂. Such a British thing to do. Elite sniper training, summer dress obviously.

I don't mean to alarm anyone but did anyone else see those bushes moving at the start?

As a former Air Cadet I spent several MST Field weekends up on Woodbury Common, great training area. Anyway with regard to these future Royal Marines Snipers, Great Stuff Lads, Keep up your excellent work. Cheers!🍻

In this film we hope to show how not to be seen. This is Mr. E.R. Bradshaw of Napier Court, Black Lion Road London SE5. He can not be seen. Now I am going to ask him to stand up. Mr. Bradshaw will you stand up please💥 This demonstrates the value of not being seen.😅

Whole points of training like these are to know what to do when the technology fails.

Use an thermal fpv drone and all would be located fast?

The vegetation of the Common is awful so moving close to & on the ground must be grim. It’s bad enough in recruit training but for this specialism, much, much more than grim.
