"Working in a romantic setting with an ex, that sounds like an actual nightmare". AGREED! Thank you for not dating. It would've ruined their on-screen chemistry, especially in the later films. I mean you saw their closeness deepen with each film and I think that was because of the natural progression of their friendship. You could see that they trusted each other more and allowed themselves to become vulnerable in their characters. That would've been missing if they had dated. Their relationship stuff would've totally spilled over into the film, and it would've ruined it.

I guess we root for them in real life because we rom-com lovers want to see evidence of rom-com-like romance in real life. I'm sure there are such romances. They just don't have epic soundtracks, beautiful cinematography, and all that other stuff that comes with creating "a mood". LOL
