Thanks, i participated at M*CTF 2015, it was great. But i don't know much about this topic, because i have another course in university (CS instead of computer security). So, i just had some small skill and did a few tasks (like reverse engineering, decoding, hex-viewing and other minor things). It was the best competitive experience i've ever had. 48 hours with my friend, and the benefit for me was knowledge.

Just went to the most recent one and read through the write up for what is named "ultra baby", what I would assume to be the easiest flag... Apparently it involves reading assembly code and using buffer overflows to overwrite function calls. I have zero idea of wtf is going on. Some other challenges were slightly easier (imo), one just involved you decompiling a java file and running the for-loop to find out what the result was, but the fact that "ultrababy" was completely out of my comprehension was pretty devastating.

I have a lot of general knowledge on computers, such as programming languages and operating systems ect but I have little experience with hacking at this level. It seems very hard to get into, but I want to try it. Good luck guys

Thank you for this video. I was able to find a competition right away, and managed to get a few flags all on my own straight out of the gate. I've been looking for a way to gain practical experience in this stuff, and this helps greatly!
