This has become my favorite poem. I remember first hearing it in the fourth grade. It can even now bring me to tears.

That was beautiful Maya Angelou. Forever grateful.
I never spend my 2022 quarters that commemorate you.
I watched this live & never forgot this. God Bless.

"To know her life story is to simutaneously wonder what on earth you have been doing with your own life and feel glad that you didn't have to go through half the things she has." ---Gary Younge ( The Guardian Newspaper)

I had the wonderful chance to hear this as she spoke at Clinton’s Inauguration. On of the brightest moments in my life.

So true & meaningful. The citizens of the world could really learn a lot from Maya's wisdom.... hopefully before it is too late for humanity & I mean that literally!! I watched this live on TV & it's always meant so very much to me.
I wish the whole world would heed the eloquent advice of
Maya Angelou who was/is a truly beautiful soul.
I still miss her since she passed.

I loved that poem from the moment I first heard it. America's new song it was and the dawning of a new day after a long dark night.

Wow I didn't think there was anyone in the world who didn't like Maya Angelou. I guess I was wrong. She was an extraordinary woman to me, enlightened, brave and kind. I love her works and I am no victim. I am proud that she lived and loved and I hope her words don't die in the wake of people's choices to misunderstand and diminish her.

its sad people can hate on someone even when they just died. obviously they have no respect as human beings and just feel comfotable behind the computer. However, besides that she is an amazing women and a huge insperation. Im sad I never got to meet you, I could only imagine how amazing youd be in person.

I first heard the last part of this reading on the intro screen to Microsoft Encarta '95. I don't know why it took me this long to look up the whole thing, but I'm very glad I did.
