The Apostle Paul encountered many trials on his way to Rome, including a shipwreck and a venomous snake bite. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul traces the sovereign hand of God through Paul’s landing on the island of Malta. Dr. Sproul illustrates how Christians can take courage when the path before us is unclear or when we face suffering of our own.

Every Christian should give thanks to God when we recognize God’s providence in our lives and the lives of others.

The means, the way, in the Will of God, all God’s Providence, Paul delivered to Rome safely. to his destination. It is not blind fate but the Divine Providence of God that delivers us all safely. God knows our future perfectly. In God’s hands, always remember this Sermon, Preacher-Teacher R.C. Sproul. I’ll think on this journey my own, no matter how treacherous, chaotic, knocked down in some way; in the All Mighty Hand of God I will reach His destination for me. All providence in the hollow of the Hands of God. “If by some means, at last a way in God’s Will, to meet God face to face”. ✝️♥️✝️

Excellent teaching. I found the Providence acting on Paul most striking back in 26:32, when it seemed Paul had outsmarted himself since Agrippa would’ve freed him, but since he’d demanded a hearing before Caesar, he remained a prisoner en route to Caesar. But as Dr. Sproul notes, this was the “some means” suggested in Rom 1:10 for him to get to Rome (at the Roman taxpayers’ expense, no less).

The difference is that Paul was told directly by God that he was to go to Rome. He was able to endure any hardships on he way because he KNEW that's what he was supposed to do. In our lives, we rarely have such explicit direction.

Acts 23:11
The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.”

Castor and Pollux, not Casper. One of the rare errors I’ve heard Sproul utter. The other error? When he called an ectopic pregnancy an ‘etopic’ pregnancy.
