If you were young in Los Angeles in 1982 and listened to KROQ, this song was our anthem! Remember? Driving on Sunset or Wilshire or San Vicente, this song was playing in your car, thanks to KROQ, which put "new wave" into the fabric of early 1980s Los Angeles, along with Psychedelic Furs, English Beat, Haircut 100, The Cure, Depeche, New Order, early U2, The Motels, Flock of Seagulls, Pre Fab Sprout, Red Rockers, Tears for Fears, Howard Jones, Bronski Beat, etc... But, 'Nowhere Girl' by B-movie was THEE song of the time.

When I was in my 20's, I used to work in Downtown Los Angeles at a store called the FACTORY FASHION WORKS. We had a dj that would play Disco and KROQ music. After work we would head to HOLLYWOOD and hit the clubs. Those were great memories. Now I am 66 and retired and think about the friends that have passed on. Miss those friends, they will always be in my HEART!

This is the best version of this song. Why it’s not on Spotify is beyond me.

In my opinion, this is the ONLY version of the song worth listening to. SO much better than the radio edit. The effect right before the drums bust in is absolute GOLD.

This one of the most perfect songs of the 80's. I always played it I had it on 12inch mix.

Probably the most hauntingly beautiful dance song from the 80s. You had to dance alone and be in your own space when they'd play this one.

The first time I heard this song, it was on my Walkman, and I started to run into the street, and cry into the night... The feeling of this moment never left me...

To me, easily, one of the greatest songs ever recorded in the 1980's. This song had such a large and massive impact on me it's hard to calculate. The piano, the guitar shrieks drenched in reverb.. just so many little brilliant touches it's hard to keep count.. and then when it comes in at 2:50?? So incredible.. The lyrics spoke to me directly when I was feeling rejection from some girl.. and I just thought this song was written for me.. This song should be known as an 80's classic along with all the other overplayed songs that aren't as good. Cheers to finding this original version. I'm cranking it loud in April 2020 !

Dancing to this in the clubs in 1982 when it came out. Still as good now as it was then. Brilliant. Goosebumps.

The piano introduction mixed with the laughter always gives me chills, it really captures the essence of a troubled woman who's dealing with the pain of isolation due to mental anguish. So many missed opportunities and yet all she can do is laugh because she was her only obstacle.

Gave me chills back in 1982 when I first heard this and now in 2021. This song is so universal and personal at the same time.

Straight up, when the piano creeps in at 0:46, I already knew this was a masterpiece. Chills every time...
