Reactive arthritis is a seronegative spondyloarthropathy that occurs after a bacterial infection. It is an immune-mediated condition involving activation of T lymphocytes that attack parts of the patient’s joint. Reactive arthritis can progress to become another condition known as Reiter’s syndrome, which has a triad of signs and symptoms. In this lesson, we discuss reactive arthritis, including the bacterial infections that can cause it, the pathophysiology behind it, the signs and symptoms, how it’s diagnosed and how it’s treated.

Great explanation. I had campylobacter in January. Now I have shoulder pain, fatigue, neck pain, knee pain and exacerbation of back and Achilles tendon pain that was already there before the food poisoning. It’s now March. I Have stopped my job and feeling really low. Just hoping this is reactive arthritis and it’s not permanent. 😢

Great video exploration.
What i feel is missing and worth mentioning is that inflammation of the spine joints squeezes the spinal cord and nerve roots, and can cause a long list of neuropathic problems.

I have this since 2019, nobody figured it out until February 2022 when I went to a rheumatology control. Yersinia IgG was positive. In 2019 prostatitis was present as well as joint pain and diarrhea. No fever. Besides that I had lipomas growing very fast. In 2022 i had very bad joint pain in my arms so from there they have start searching for bacterial infection because the blood analysis were perfect, still searching for my treatment, I'm on my third antibiotic scheme. Hope this works...

Iam having Reiter's syndrome for a month now, I really wanted to know that if this syndrome can be transmitted sexually...then can I have sexual contact after the symptoms have completely gone and before they reappear? Basically is this like AIDS?
