When I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, I thought I must have rapid cycling or ultradian cycling because my extreme moods would happen so frequently, but then it turned out that I was actually misdiagnosed, and I have since then been correctly, diagnosed with autism and ADHD, which also causes some extreme emotions and hyperfixation’s that can look like hypomania.

Can you please cover something regarding delusional thinking? I know someone that states that I did such and such when it never happened (an accusation); other times he suggests (almost orders me) to do something, like they really like a person and encourage me to date them or continue dating them. Then months later, they’re looking down on me for dating them. Then they’ll say they’re going to pay for my daughter’s college ($10, 000 per year is fine). I get her enrolled and she’s going. I send him the itemized bill and he says he’s only paying $800 of it because the other fees are not necessary (tell that to the University). Yes, this is my dad. I don’t think he even knows he does this. And don’t try telling him he’s wrong about “anything”. Controlling and delusional, which has then driven me nuts.

My dad has bipolar mania and as he’s gotten older it’s not as bad as it used to be in his 20s and 30s for some reason he hasn’t been on the medicines that it is because the meds really escalated him. They were putting him on anything and everything and he never had any support or chance at life is always made me sad for him.

My mom had untreated by polar disorder when I was growing up. We all knew she was bipolar but no one knew exactly what was going on. She never had normal moods. She was always either severely depressed or manic or enraged or everything was fabulous and amazing and exciting to the greatest extent. she never was even tempered. She eventually developed paranoid schizophrenia and that just made things worse.

I'm bipolar one I'm rapid cycling, schizoaffective, ADHD, anorexic and or bulimics Tendencies, CT PSD, OCD, acute Anxiety and or some signs of social anxiety. Suicidal or homicidal. And now my primary doctor will not write any more of my medicine until I have a psychiatrist which is in May. So going off of these medicine is going to be devastating to my body, Mentally, physically and emotionally, Spiritually. All I can do is pray to find a Dr. To prescribe For Now till the end of May Please 🙏🏻 for Me 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻. Worried in Georgia.

I learned the hard way that some psychiatrist do not believe in Rapid I had one that believed I had borderline personality disorder, so she put me on antidepressants and anti-anxiety, and all that did was cause me to have a full-blown manic episode with psychotic features. Only meds that have helped me were 2nd generation antipsychotics.

What about adhd + CPTSD and menstruation cycles? Can we be labelled or diagnosed with bipolar 1 or 2 because of our moods switches ?

It's good to have videos like this but finding a good doctor to properly diagnose you IRL is very difficult.

How do you differentiate between ultradian and someone with borderline personality disorder though? I remember one of these videos saying the main way to tell the difference between bipolar and borderline was that borderline cycles daily, while bipolar cycles over months/years?

I can verify this is accurate as per DSM 5 TR. Also for interest, one key reason why antidepressants such as SSRIs are best avoided in bipolar disorder is that they can increase the chance of developing rapid cycling.

Conditions that are often confused with rapid cycling (and called rapid cycling colloquially) are cyclothymia, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder and borderline personality disorder.

Having impulsive personality disorder in conjuntion with ultradian cycling bipolar is certainly a hell of a ride 😅

With mood swings more than 4 times per year, seriously consider a different problem causing the mood instability, like PTSD or Borderline Personality or both.

I suspect I have bipolar 2...I have asked my parents to help me get diagnosed again they refuse...Everyone says its just major depression then why did i have 3 months of good energy and then now i cant leave my bed

If it's not caused by meds to control something else then too many pills take something for depression by the other meds which have a side effects that can include depression my poor Dad as well.
