Sky Television | Main Idents #05 | 1996 - 1997

A little bit of nostaliga - Sky TV idents from 1996-1997. This was 'ye old days' when you could make a cup of tea in the kitchen and never fear about missing the start of your favourite shows because you could hear an ident intro for the show that is clear and instantly recognisable.

Good clear colour theming for the channels and a very authoritative set of idents which clearly communicated Sky's ambition at the time, now idents usually have a sort of "woke" feel to them which is hard to explain.

I think they improved the tombstones a bit with this one. They made each Sky Channel Group sound totally different to each other. Sky Sports 1, 2, & 3 Sound like you want to get active and get ready for something exhausting, While The Movie Channels have this kinda triumphant theme to it kinda like how you hear sounds in the theatre, then there's Sky News, which sounds like something serious to talk about, then Sky Soap And Travel Sounds exactly like that; Soap sounds like you want to relax and take a bath with some Soap, while Travel sounds like you're on an adventure searching for a rare animal or something like that in Brazil or Africa. Then there's Sky 1 and 2, which really sounds like they are authority, like they're the main Sky Channels. IDK about the Corporate Ident tho.

For Some Reason the Sky TV Theme at the time sounds like the "Jetsons" Theme.
