But remember: a grainy image is always better than a blurry image.

Electronics Enginneer, I appreciate your message, but its not quite correct (oversimplified). ISO, meaning sensitivity, in digital cameras is equivalent to the gain of an amplifier. Dialing the gain up will raise the volume, but if the input signal is already low, you will also hear the noise. Going back to cameras, noise comes from not enough light, not the sensitivity. Yes, trying to take a photo at f8 in pitch black at 1/1000s with iso 128000 might not be optimal. But if your shutter is already as slow as it can be and the apeture is wide open, not bumping up the iso because you are afraid of noise is a big mistake. In that situation, you might actually get less noise with a higher iso. Best thing to do is to test your camera and see how much noise you get for different isos and exposures in a given scene, just don't do it at your friends wedding.

4th option. Shoot RAW and use grain reduction on light room (I’m too broke for a second lens having just got my first camera 😭)

ISO itself does not cause noise and also is not changing the sensitivity of a digital sensor. For most modern cameras it's just applying digital gain to the signal coming from the sensor.

4th option: use AI noise reduction

This helped me a lot. Now i can comfortably shoot on 10000 ISO and even higher

the best combination is a speed light and low shutter speed. I'm taking photos in the night clubs with iso over 3-5k and what helps a lot is shutter between 1/30 and 1/50. Just put on some flash with 0.1 t stop to freeze subjects. You will notice that even things on the background doesn't look smooth

Ive noticed that even with high iso, as long as the shutter speed is realtively high and the exposure is good there wont be very much noise compared to a lower iso, slower shutter speed, and worse exposure. Just my experience using a D800 in low light

I am getting grainy photos with indoor lighting. Is this an issue?

It can be noise from the sensor, a higher iso can help with it

sir u didn't explain the other complication of slow shutter speed (subject motion blur), and the other effect of large aperture (shallow DOF)

It's not the sensitivity...that's leftover terminology from film

ISO on electronic devices is simply amplification amount

This video is kinda cursed and funny when you're only used to watching the videos cropped horizontally and suddently see much more that you normally don't see

Sometimes it's better to get at least some image even with high iso than to get nothing at all

It's good of you to try to give advice but it would be better if you knew what you were talking about. You're totally wrong about digital noise being caused by higher iso, that's simply not true.

Yes let's do it, Event Photography on F1. 2 50mm at F1.2

4th option: Lightroom ai is pretty good at denoising photos, so if you can't add more light, and scene is too dynamic to hold camera still, or you don't have high aperture lens, don't be afraid of high ISO.

Unless you need very fine details in your photo for huge prints, denoising works perfectly well.

I hate that most pros are teaching people to be afraid of high ISO. It's not that bad in our day and age.

Hi a nice addition to this video would be what kind of noise reduction software is could (and maybe affordable) to use
