A First Look at the Performance Dual-Motor R1T | Rivian

We invited a group of Quad-Motor R1T owners and Dual-Motor reservation holders to drive a Performance Dual-Motor R1T. Here were their reactions. Read more about our three R1 drive systems — Dual-Motor, Performance Dual-Motor and Quad-Motor.

Love it. So happy to see the interior Yellow accents are still included with the Dual Motor. Was sad to see the yellow calipers and exterior accents not be included in the dual motor but at least the interior is staying the same.

After a 3 year wait, we finally got our R1S.
Cool rig, except the a/c stopped working after day one. They took it in, “fixed” it, stopped working again after two whole days. Now it’s at least 100 degrees every day and they can’t take it in for “repairs” for another two weeks.
A bit of rush to get these cars on the road is the nicest words I can find.

I hope Rivian sorts out their financials soon and get back to plan of bringing the R1T to Europe. At lot more people looking forward to buy a more traditional looking truck then the cybertruck.
I like the video, but how can you let ppl try out a performance version on the truck on the streets of NYC, one of the densest populated places in the US?

I just sold my R1S. I own a Porsche Taycan and a Mercedes EQE. The place where it doesn't compare to those cars are the drive. The Rivian is like electric cart compared to these other two models, and the suspension even though it's an air suspension it rolls just too much. Not very good in those departments...
If they fix these two aspects of their vehicle, they will crush Mercedes, Tesla, VW and all these other manufacturers

Just met a Rivian owner yesterday in NH. I asked them how happy they were with it. Fairly was the answer. "We really like Tesla but it was taking too long for them to get the truck out so we bought a Rivian instead." I continued to question about the truck... at the end I asked "would you buy it again?" ...long breathe... "NO. We'd wait for the Tesla truck."

Comparing the Enduro e-motor to Koenigsegg's Dark Matter e-motor, or even Lucid's e-motor, is a bit of a letdown. Koenigsegg, despite being a far smaller company with far fewer R&D spending, can create an e-motor weighing 38kg with an output of 800hp, whereas Rivian has only been able to create something double the size with less than half the horsepower. Imagine the additional storage innovations that the company could've created with their R2 and R3 platforms if they had the packaging efficiency of Lucid and Koenigsegg (not to mention the range improvements from weight and space savings).
