I bought a Planar 2 in 1996 and it blew me away. After having mainly CDs and shitty low end turntables I was gobsmacked. I'm listening to it as I write and A Trick Of The Tail by Genesis is blasting! Dance On A Volcano sounds incredible. Blows the CD away! Drums are big and pan like magic, bass is fat and deep, the vocal is in my face. A turntable like this is a gift from the gods of audio!

I made my own Rega turntable using all the available upgrade parts, the plinth is a copy of the standard Rega 3 but twice as thick, this is a piano finish high gloss black, the motor is a 24v Dc, with speed control, ceramic bearings and s/steel sub-platter with twin belt drive, the arm is a rewired and foam filled RB250 with Ortofon 2M blue cartridge, it has a 22mm acrylic platter and sits on polished alloy spiked feet, it sounds great but I am taking it apart again because I have spent 2 months working on a new platter.

Yes my Old Panar 3 bearing is still airtight after 38 years. Phenomenal

Rega makes a pretty big deal about specifically avoiding exactly what you do at 2.23.
From the Planar 3 manual:
"Don't lift the centre hub out from the main bearing, The bearing is factory assembled with a film of special thick lubricant. If the centre hub is removed this film may be disturbed."

I have closely decided to eventually buy the Rega Planar 2. I am also curious about later on installing another higher performance phono cartridge. In fact, because as I perceive, and hear it, the cartridge matters to a point of 75% of the fidelity, and difference in the sound of music. Afterward it is the tonearm, platter, and the accuracy of the motor, which should also be taken into account, even with belt drive turntables. Notice that direct drive turntables have a system of monitoring, and providing a method of correcting the speed; that is the problem with most belt drive turntables nowadays. However, I'm sure that Rega, a legendary name in hi fi audio by now, has seriously considered the accuracy of the 33 1/3, and 45 rpm speeds; that is to say I hope so! Enough said.

I dunt understand why 95% of reviews are just the list of specs which I can find anywhere. You have all 3 systems, how do they sound and compare on the same record and setup??

Though you are principally concerned to sell these turntables, your video is nonetheless clear and informative, all are excellent value, the 3 is a particularly fine machine the next step being awell set up Linn, it can be recommended both to the vinyl virgin and those already listening to the true music medium, a superb machine for opera and classical music especially with paired with the PSU .Reliability is excellent visit Mr Fremers analogue planet to see the love and pride that goes into their construction UK audio piles should visit and purchase at the excellent Cymbiosis, based in rural Leicestershire,

Wonderful, informational video! Myself I would purchase the Rega Planar 1; and later buy a higher performance, more expensive phono cartridge. The phono cartridge is not of the higher caliber because the stylus is not elliptical!

Just get the P2, best of the bunch, and the best arm in Rega, s arsenal. The dial on the P300 series of arms does nothing but distract the signal coming from the cart.
Michelle chose the RB250; 220 etc to modify and distribute as its own “Tecnoarm” for a reason.

I have a crappy Kenwood but I'm lining up a new job and thinking of upgrading to a Rega P1 or P2. But then again I've seen secondhand TT's knocking about with "repeat" buttons and am sorely tempted... what can I say? I'm lazy and cheap. (Could always compromise on a second hand Rega).

Meorabile update!! Fabioo '961 15/01/2019 h.02.36

Hi. I'm thinking of getting a Rega p2 turntable. I live in a studio condo unit and I have limited space. Can I connect the P2 turntable to a bluetooth portable speaker?

Does Glass Platter planar 2 fits with planar 1 without spacers for cartridge?

Please explain why the Planar 1 & 2 use a preset (automatic) bias for the provided cartridge. I guess if you stay with a cartridge with the similar down force, you are okay!
