I am in full support of this policy. It will hurt consumers in the short term but help in fighting cedi depreciation, increase employment, grow local businesses and the economy. The government should not end at introducing this policy, there must be win-win for both AGI and GUTA. Since this policy will favor AGI, government should support members of GUTA who are willing to distribute or sell locally manufactured goods instead of importing with tax waivers or incentives to discourage imports.

This is where the government is failing. Government don’t even have the industries to meet the demands.
