Garmin Striker 7sv Review - On Water Demo & Function Walk Through

This unit should have the "Quickdraw Contours" function ... go into the map function then open the menu (3 lines button) and there should be a "start recording" option, this will start the creating contour maps. I have the striker plus 4, thinking of upgrading, and thats how I create contour maps of my lakes.

If it doesn't look like its creating a map, maybe try zooming in. The square you had on the screen makes me think you are WAY too zoomed out.

I'm newly retired from 33yr carpentry career. I found my Ambassador 5000 (5601) real and purchased a couple more new low profile reals & rods. I haven't fished in 35yrs so I've never kept up w/ the tech. I've been researching a bit and have a chance to acquire one of these Garmin 7sv finders.

Question :

You mentioned setting up wifi ? I have a cell but no "hotspot" w/it. What exactly do you mean by "setting up wifi" ? and/or "Captain's app" ?

So from what I saw in this video, it isn't showing anything more than your average fish finder. I was hoping for the higher price you would get some kind of mapping and side view. Not a good review for this product! Maybe you should have waited until you used for a month or two before giving the review
