Snow ploughs clear Manchester Airport runway after 'significant' snowfall

Snow hit Manchester Airport on Thursday, closing the airport for a short time.

The airport says that 'significant levels of snow' led to the decision at 9am this morning.

Snow ploughs and airport operations vehicles were sent out in force to clear the runway and make it safe for aircraft to land and take off.

This footage, recorded by @SimonLoweAviation on his live stream on Thursday, shows the airport vehicles in action as they worked as quickly as possible to clear the runway of snow.

It came after snowfall has caused travel chaos across Greater Manchester this morning. Temperatures plummeted again in the region as the cold snap continues this week.
