Is it right to assume that the bid and ask are the buy sell price of the option?

I ask as I'm an equity investor and the bid ask are different from the strike price (this is the market price of the equity).

And, I don't need to cover options?
Eg if I wanted 1 option for NVDA, that would be 100 shares at $1000 = $100, 000! This is a bit off-putting if I need a spare hundred K to buy or sell just 1 option
