Russian vowels can give different sounds depending on if they're stressed or not, that's why I hope that the table I come up with, will help you to memorize pronunciation of unstressed vowels E and Я

Excellent lesson!!! You know that I always thought that the hardest word for me to pronounce in Russian was a simple 3 letter word "для". But I've been trying to pronounce it like "dlya" or "длйа". Is this word actually pronounced like "дла"? I struggle very much with the letter combination ля. Examples: для, взгляд, лягушка, итд.

The best video on this topic I've found! Even though I'm Polish and Russian is quite easy for me, the pronunciation is still a struggle because of some differences between our languages. Thank you so much :)

For me being Polish this is a bit of struggle. In my language almost every vowel and consonant sounds the same, no matter their position in the word and being stressed or unstressed. In fast pronunciation there might be some differences, but the only official pronunciation is as described above. Also in Polish the stress is constant, it's always at the penultimate syllable. In Russian it's not the case and this gives me difficulties. Although Polish and Russian are somewhat similiar, they are very different on the other hand. I think that's why Russian is mostly not understandable for Poles, just a little bit.

If you're from Oklahoma, you already know how to say я. Е, on the other hand, is the same thing only different. Instead of a ya it is a ye. Like the ye in the words yes, or yesterday. That is why the Russian word "Нет, " when spelled using the Latin looks like, "Nyet."

HI thanks for your video. Its very useful for beginners. Please let us know how the both vowels will sound if they will follow after stressed A like in word чита́ешь

That stressed soft consonant 'а is the same as йа йэ
I know there is a difference but I can hardly pick up, just like words ending in ь. Sometimes I can hear it.
Well you're the native, you can probably hear it

Wait wait the consonant becomes soft and the е.я changes to the closed sound? da?

So when being stressed and after a consonant they have to be pronounced like а and э?

How to pronounce the first 'е' in делаешь? Is it an 'И' sound?

It's hard for me to remember exactly when Е and Я turn into И. All my sources don't even agree about whether in the 1st pretonic syllable (the one just before the stress), the end of the word, or in other syllables that aren't stressed, it becomes И or an "uh" sound or something in between. What's more, I found out that the same thing happens to ЧА and ЩА, which is really confusing, and it's especially hard for me to pronounce when the next letter is Й (as in яйцо, случай, etc.) So I pronounce most of my Russian vowels as if they were stressed just because the formal rules are so knotty. Will people still understand me--or will they mistake the vowels for stressed ones or even separate words?

Please these letters read so and this character is equal to so й + а = я
