Honestly - I’m a Muslim but I don’t wear a scarf and I wouldn’t marry a guy that had that as a requirement . So it’s insane to me that this girl moved across the world to marry a guy that had those requirements. I personally don’t think you should marry someone you have to change so much for. A few things here and there - fine

You're right. Nicole wants to leave and is looking for a reason to get the heck out of Dodge. I don't think NIcole thought things through when she was even open to going out with Mahmoud. She had no idea that she would have to follow all the rules that every other women has to follow in Egypt. I still think Nicole should go home. It's not worth it to give up who you are to be with someone. It's not going to work.

Why do Americans not research cultures they want to spend the rest of their life with? Seems bizarre to not learn the culture, language, the religion of the person you say 'you love.' I wouldnt even get a hamster without knowing its past and everything it came from, let alone a whole husband!

I personally would never compromise my religious beliefs for anyone. I don't understand why Nicole married a Muslim man when she wasn't willing to truly embrace his religious beliefs.

I think something is seriously wrong with Nicole’s way of thinking. How does she honestly expect to move to Egypt but desires to live as if she’s in America. For her to be 38 years old she is lacking basic thinking skills. She obviously didn’t take the time to learn the basics cultural demands Muslims abide by. How could she have not did her research on what she was walking into. She’s going to Egypt to reside with her Egyptian husband and expects him to conform to her way of being instead of the other way around. Nicole you have stepped into your husband’s world therefore you must live as he lives or make your departure. The method of life you’re attempting to incorporate will not work because you will become a disgrace to his family. Sorry but there are basic cultural values you must follow or you will have serious problems.
I don’t understand why women from America want to willing choose someone from a strict culture in comparison to their own. How can you possibly think your way will conquer the practice that has been in place forever. INSANE. If you truly live this man and want to live your life with him as his wife, I’m sorry to say but you must conform to the way he lives. You chose this it didn’t choose you. THINK ABOUT IT……

Nicole wanted to be on the show TLC and decided to waste everybody's time to pretend she wanted to reunite with her husband.

It’s pretty huge that they’re discussing phalopasty like this. I’ve only ever seen it discussed one time

I think he sees how his sister-in-law adapted to their culture and standards completely and quickly, and doesn't understand why Nicole isn't. Like he thought seeing his brother's marriage how easy this foreign woman adapted to their customs and thought Nicole would be the same. He constantly is stressed and freaks out and you can tell he just wants to almost scream "she did it why can't you!?"

I'm going to be honest here, Nicole doesn't know what she want. She's one strange girl.

As someone who has lived and worked in Egypt for nearly a decade and plans to go back in time - I can say this may be more of a problem of Nicole not realizing - well a lot. Not all Egyptian women have to follow these rules. Socio-economically, religiously connected stringent beliefs become more prevalent in the lower economic strata. Not that it doesn't exist in the upper, but there you are more likely to see your everyday working woman, pants and a top, beautiful hair and make-up, beautiful clothes, and no head scarf. Nicole would have done better falling in with the foreign expats and finding an Egyptian guy through that crowd. As she said in one episode, all Egyptian bathrooms are like this. Um no, they are not.

To be crude but honest - she met him working at the fabric market, so he doesn't have much money, and furthermore - she would struggle to find work or be in circles that many Egyptian women do find themselves in. What I am saying is that she has fallen into the poor hole, where religion is crazy strict, to the point of absurdity at times. In this life she would walk down to the local markets or take a tuk-tuk, husband permitting - and go back home. That's about it. Shit, it reminds me of old Iran. But living there can be so vastly different - even for Egyptian women. This man can't even afford to take her to dinner at the IHOP - yes there is an IHOP, IKEA, and H&M in Cairo, frequented not dirt poor Egyptians.

She only went back to him so she could be on the show. Their story was over the last time she left him! She wanted to gain that fame by going back knowing full well what was going to happen! I can see right through this girl!

He shouldnt be forcing her wear hijab or to pray.
There is no compulsion in Islam.
If she not willing to wear for God, what makes him think, she will wear it for him or his family?
She is at fault for going to Egypt.
BUT if he wants a religious, Muslim girl who is covered head to toe, why dont he just let his mommy pick out his wife???
People make things so hard for themselves.

She knew what the deal was. She changed religions and promised things that she knew she didn’t really want. They aren’t soulmates. Why would they even want this? Adults need to grow up.

Honestly she had no idea what she was getting herself into and the fact she is consistently attacking him about a dress code he didn't create in his country is unfair if she wants to go around looking like Sandy Duncan in 1973 she needs to move back to California.

Nicole converted to Islam and now has an issue with Maumoods beliefs. One would think you study the religion and principles to decide if it’s in line with your beliefs prior to converting. She knows what’s expected of her as a Muslim wife at this point. She signed up for something she’s not willing to do. This isn’t going to end well because I blame Nicole not Maumood.
