My parents still use direct tv. Just because of their age and they don’t feel like dealing with the apps and streaming

Had direct TV about 10 years ago. My bill doubled (literally doubled) after the two year introductory period. Old timey cable companies are out. Have two of them merge doing the same things poorly made no sense. I’m a Hulu subscriber. Absolutely pleased.

These cable/satellite companies are the worst ones around. Greedy evil bastards. Can't wait for them to go out of business

Just having to deal with DirecTV until they install internet in our area

That one dollar price tag was too high. They should have discounted it to $0.25

Directv was vital for our family during the 90's and early 2000's for tv entertainment. Since we lived out in the country, it was the only way we could get cable tv especially Sunday Ticket for NFL games. There still could be areas in the US were internet is not available in rural areas so satellite tv is their only choice.

We had satalite TV before cable in the UK. Now it's all cable but every other building is covered in dishes that haven't been used for over decades.

Satellite TV is dying like CDs. It’s just a matter time before it all dies.

OTA antenna. Never needed cable or mini dish. LA and Riverside counties have good coverage.

I honestly thought these companies died out when streaming took over!

Direct TV does offer internet TV, no dish.

Did you see Jon watts ripping Apple for not putting wolfs in cinemas? He apparently gave back the money for the sequel and I don’t blame him for being mad. Clooney and Pitt together in a film is huge and to not put wolfs in cinemas is crazy.

Dish subscriber here. If I cancel, do the other services have a recorder like a DVR?

I say everyone ditches satellite & cable for streaming services now

Give it a couple more months. Corporate mergers are going to be off the chain.

That’s crazy, parents still use dish for years but have thought of going full streaming here and there. But yeah I see it dying out. But yeah att has slowly gotten to where they reach out in the boonies like me

We tried DirectTV, probably the worse decision we made, took forever insteading land wires, services took awhile. Point my father got so angry 😡 he wanted off point the manager came to our house talk to him. Hated the services took three to cancel. Hate DirecTV 😡

The problem with Star Link isn't so much the monthly cost (paying over $100 a month for basically dial up speeds is common out here), but the start up cost. The equipment is $350, plus $100 start up fee, plus the first month of service paid up front. That's $500 just to get it set up. If you're living in the boondocks, you'll likely struggle to save up $500, if it's even possible at all. $350 for that little plastic dish thing they give you is outrageous. Plus you'd think as the customer base continues to grow, prices would drop, but it's doing the opposite. Elon would have 5x as many customers right now if he were only charging half of what he currently is.
