I loved your video. Around 1970 I bought this very same camera. I loved it. I lived in Manhattan and would take long exposure pictures of the West Side Highway at night. The streams of colors were beautiful. Then I took it to Europe for a year and still have the most beautiful photos. I scanned the slides long ago. I always had fun selecting the right F stop and speed combinations to get the photo I wanted. I can’t remember what happened to it. After decades I’m going to buy a camera in a couple of weeks and get back to photography. Cell phone “photography” just doesn’t cut it. Again you made a terrific video.

Was in the Army (Fort Bragg) when I brought my Petri from a pawn shop. I jumped (Parachute) many times with this camera, took it out in the field with me even in extreme cold. Never had an issue with it.

Glad to see a Petri camera featured. I bought a Petri Half 7 a couple of days ago. Looking forward to using/trying it. Would still like to get a Petri Color 35 at some point.

Shutter release is interesting. I recently acquired a Miranda which uses a front located release in about the same position on the body. I find the location allows the camera to be held in a much more comfortable manner. Th release naturally falls under your finger, unlike the top located release.

I do love weirder cameras and quite interested with Petri, especially the original Penta. However 2 weeks ago I acquired a Miranda Sensomat, an amateur level SLR with unusual front plate shutter release button, interchangeable viewfinder like Nikon F but better implemented because it has sliding mechanism instead of Nikon's tiny release button, stop-down TTL metering like Canon FT which has weird implementation but it makes the Miranda got away with dedicated light meter on/off switch, and weird U-shaped light sensor which is located on its own reflex mirror plus the light meter was surprisingly still accurate provide you're using the battery with its original designed voltage

I just saw that same type of camera in my local swap meet. It wasn't in the best of condition but it was an interesting find though.

Which petri color 35 you are talking about? The compact one? There is color corrected ones too. Thank you

Thrifted this camera recently and discovered that it’s is missing a shutter mirror. I’m adamant on fully restoring it so I can use it. If there’s anybody that can help, it would be greatly appreciated haha

I can second the recommendation for spring or fall to visit. I visited Hiroshima for work in October of 2018 and it was absolutely perfect weather.

I’ll have to keep an eye out for a Petri. I’ve yet to see one in person.

He mentioned the Petri reliability issues; SOOOO True ! - The worst being the early serial number Petri FT models.
These had a 'camshaft' advance system - Really wacky and generally regarded as a dumb design...

How do you set the ISO/ASA in this camera?
