How to fix Need for Speed Most Wanted Crashing on PC (2005)

let me tell you the relief when i spent 30 mins on a pursuit and it didn't crash. thanks a lot my good sir

Before your fix, I had to set the affinity of the speed.exe to one CPU core every time I was going to play, or I would get a crash. With your fix, I just did a 12 minute police chase on Bull's stage (doing the different goals) and the game didn't crash. It's awesome.I don't have to do that affinity thing again.

I tested this on Windows 11 and I can confirm it works. The tricky part, is to get to the Advanced system options, which is a little bit harder on Win 11 (It's still on the system screen, under device specifications). But it works the same.

Thanks for the tutorial! Man I always had these random crashes (no message, the game just suddenly closes) but never bothered to look if there was a fix as it only happened occasionally and usually when I had just started the game or entered free roam. That was until right now after it happened just as I evaded a 30 minute pursuit in which I had done EVERY SINGLE RAP SHEET MILESTONE. I'd be screwed even if I had autosave on as it crashed just as the cooldown bar filled. Strangely this didn't happen when I evaded after 34 minutes just sitting on the bus station ledge. It could be way worse though, it could have crashed right after finishing one of those annoying challenge series just before autosave did its job. But even though pursuits are fun and circling the Rosewood freeway until getting the milestones then hiding at the bus station is no big deal compared to those challenges, I sure learned my lesson through frustration to not in any circunstance ignore random game crashes.

bro, I just finished 5 races against razor then held on for 5 minutes using bwm, when I was about to cross a broken bridge it suddenly crashed and the game exited itself. I am very disappointed, then I found a tutorial from this channel. I'll try it and let you know the results the day after tomorrow.

Hey, bro mine still crashes even after that, Everything in game works perfectly, the problem starts when I start bounty chases then after a while it crashes, then a message will pop up saying"something has caused the application to close...

My game was working perfectly, the issue is that I installed the mod so that it looks like it does on the Xbox 360 and after a while I read that if your game had the files "d3d9" and "d3dx9_29" in the root folder it would break, thing that my game had. I'm not sure if it's for that reason specifically, maybe you need to configure some things or delete others to make it work again. Now when I try to open it it goes to a black screen and after a while it sends me to the desktop with the game running, it doesn't close, and the only alternative is to restart the PC. Does anyone know if there is a solution, or if I can at least save my game, uninstall the game and recover my games by reinstalling it. I appreciate any contribution.

I was on pursuit 10 minutes, done all the things to race the boss, all I needed to do is just drop cops, the freaking game just closed itself, I checked later, speed.exe was not in the list, but I put it in the list earlier.

Didnt work for me. Still crashed after 30 min+ persuit. Finially managed to do the challenge by avoiding the stadium while escaping. Just do your chase and leave the area. Its a bug.

Bruh it crash the second time, the first time i used your method works but its abit glitch on the menu section but i ignore it. After a drag race the game crash like previously again, do know any other solution?

Delete settings file or move it somewhere else from documents nfs mw. Should work fine.
