The stones in the background behind Tokk are the hints. The length of the stones correspond to the length of each of the three glowing Flower Bells hanging on the big tree to the right of Tokk. The code of the Stones translates into 1233121, to open up the way to the underworld. To open the door to the far right to reach the Ability Tree, REVERSE the code to 1213321 and the door will open to let you get to the Tree.

To play the notes on the Flower Bells: use the Boost jump on the flower on the ground, then Dash to the left and start Bashing on Flower Bell #1, then Bash onto Flower Bell #2, etc...

For those that're like me and might find it easier memorize it this way the two sequences are:

left, mid, right, right, left, mid, left

left, mid, left, right, right, mid, left

PS: If you have trouble staying in the air or just don't want to risk falling all the way down do the 2nd sequence first.

I'm not sure if someone mentioned in the comments already, but it is okay to touch the ground. It is just the order that matters.

I have to say this was the most frustrating puzzle for me. The only reason I figured out the side door was because I literally got so mad after days of returning to this area, I just constantly jumped from bell to bell randomly while cursing about how frustrated I was lol. It then opened, I immediately YouTubed how to open the bottom door, because I knew at that moment there was no way I’d figure that out.

I don't know how, but I managed to open up the Ability Tree first by COMPLETE ACCIDENT! I wasn't paying attention to the background and just started going through the lights in some random order (I thought you had to hit three of them in a certain order without touching the ground). So when the door opened, I was like: "Oh, that's cool! But what about the pit below me?"

Part of me feels bad about not figuring this out on my own, but realistically speaking, I went through the midnight burrows, got the tablet, brought it back to the bird guy, read exactly what he said about it being backwards without putting any of it together, and moved on to try to find an ability that would help me get to that tree. Looking at it as a whole, I never would have been able to figure this out on my own, so I feel less bad. XD
