Let’s go over the REAL root issue of these problems

-Unlimited miles
-Stellantis vehicles: Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler
-Lack of automotive knowledge by owner
-90 Plan: $2, 500 deductible
-And to a lesser extent: Black on black vehicles with tinted windows and exhaust

It’s not the types of vehicles per se (as noted at the end of this video), it’s all the above factors contributing to these issues now.

Now all the vehicles have massively depreciated as well. I see most of them are close to 200k miles now.

High mileage = more problems.

I say all this so that you can RETHINK your business plan. Even just having one of the above listed factors changed (unlimited miles off, 80 plan, etc.) can save you from being in the same situation.

We avoid bad renters by only renting to airport delivery, we run mainly a minivan fleet, always buy undervalued cars that can pay themselves in less than a year

Tony, I'm a host in Philadelphia, so you know I have a terrible customer base. Don't do unlimited miles. They will abuse that. Don't do American cars, bad renters love those. I only do Toyota Camry's. Super reliable and easy to fix. Id also say its a great idea to learn mechanics. I picked up a job at a mechanic shop for 6 months and i can already rebuild an engine. Working on my own cars has saved me loads of money.

I know the feeling my guy! A huge reason why I also make videos showing the good & the BAD of what happens within a car rental business. It’s a lot of cap out there!

A few suggestions:

1. Take off unlimited miles (value to depreciation never makes financial sense + you attract renters who just want to do the most in ya cars)

2. Switch to a lower deductible coverage plan unless you have your own shop + a parts plug

3. See how much your utilization changes without the “instant booking” feature (this is something I’m trying out currently to weed out new/sketchy renters)

All in all, keep the faith & stay locked in bro. Wishing you the best! 🫡💯

Lmao exactly Tony, it don’t matter you can trade vehicles in and get different vehicles they still gonna dog the vehicles. Turo knows it’s on them to adjust to what’s going on out here with the host . I’m a host and for one thing we should be able to hold a security deposit that would stop a lot of this crap .

1st mistake people do with Turo is getting cars they like instead of getting cars that make business sense

Thanks for sharing Bro. You are absolutely correct about changing your target customers. I’m ranked number 2 here in the Charleston, SC with 18 vehicles. I target mainly airport guests which take better care of my fleet. The locals have been terrorizing my fleet with bullet holes in my 2022 C8 Corvette. 2023 Civic only 3 weeks old with deployed airbags. We need to target our customers better by selecting different cars. Stay with it Bro and keep grinding.

Please do not do Touro is a bad idea. I rented my SUV for the weekend came back, smelling like weed horrible and the guy that took my car was to black man with gold chains. Do you know where I live so I’m afraid to report them to Turo because I have a Corvette in my driveway. If you snitch on them, they will take care of you, but f**k in your cars.

I have a fleet of 3 cars right now, a sedan, 4 door hatchback, and an SUV. By far the best customers I have come from the SUV. Longer term rentals, more family tailored guests, and people who don't abuse cars. Out of the 10 months I've had the SUV it was rented out for 2 months from 1 guest and another 1 month from another guest. I've had around 2 other requests for minimum 1 month rentals, but I had to decline since the car was already booked. I've been thinking about getting a used Panamera to enter in the luxury market, but I think after watching your videos I'll be sticking to SUV's.

Damn, that sucks bro! I’m actually from Louisville Kentucky. I live in California right now. I move back to Louisville next fall definitely would like some mentorship. I’ll pay for your time I’m just now getting to this business!

Im a mechanic awd(all wheel drive) vehicle are more expensive to fix. More parts can break. Fwd vehicles would be the way to go. Less parts, less maintenance and less things that can break

That's why I stop doing unlimited miles. Just not worth it because these new renters are terrible. Turo have literally attracted crooks who use stupid women to rent cars for them

If there’s mechanical damage who is responsible? Overheat? Does guest have to pay or host is responsible?

Do you have a choice not to rent to 1st time renters? Do they give you a choice to say No?

Hopefully it gets better for you, I think the changes you have in process will help.
