I do not know what he used for his foundry, but in another video he is using a mixture of sand and concrete to make a mold for ingots. Maybe this stuff is also good for a foundry. I once tried plaster but this is not suitable for higher temperatures, it might work for melting aluminium but it is not the best. I also build a little testfoundry that has walls made out of clay and dirt. So far no problems occured but I only tested it twice.

...You're supposed to have the metal already inside the crucible when you put it in...

Brass, bronze, iron, steel...those are materials used for mace heads. Aluminum is too light and soft.

Aluminum is a fairly weak metal and would break very easy. Better of casting a baseball shape mace
