I find banks not too happy if you return the coins, I have a couple of “dump” bank branches I use instead.

I coin roll hunted 440 half-dollars. Not one silver - not even a 40%er. Pretty sure they were already searched and hand-rolled. That being said I will pick up that microscope to look through my pocket change.

Believe it or not I actually got this for Christmas. Didn't even know how good it was, of course I didn't watch the video either.
It's excellent I must admit. Kind of ironic how I didn't even know that this was the "secret weapon, " yet somehow I still got it.

Thanks for the great video Silverpicker! Lots of great information, especially about the USB microscope. Always making great content and I love your channel! My husband (an M.D. and forensic scientist) loves your channel too and it's the only one he will watch! L'shalom and Baruch HaShem!

My secret weapon is the microscope that I used in biology class. The light underneath is quite useless for coins, but a simple lamp or flashlight makes the setup useable.

Once I bought a bag of old cents from my LCS, and it was okay but had obviously been searched. Mostly 1940s and 1950s. Copper for the future. Then I bought a similar size bag (maybe ten pounds? and in a canvas bag) from Coin Exchange New York for more $$, but it had not been searched or they didn't care that it had ~10 steel cents, ~10 Indian heads and quite a few wheats younger than 1940. As I had to sign for that package and the USPS was confused, it took a bit longer than usual to receive it (CENY is usually quite speedy), but I did get some exercise, then some good pennies :)

I agree about your Secret Weapon. I got one either early last year or late 2018, and it has been a lot of fun. I imagine other uses for it, to look at tiny things, like marks on jewelry. Also, the price of the Weapon is (or was) quite good. I got it via Amazon. So this is a very helpful video!

Great video! I had just bought a microscope but it was before I found you! (I did buy some other things though!)I have read the comments below and I have some advice, as a former bank employee, albeit a long time ago! :). Some things change, but some things never do. When I was a teller, I couldn't imagine telling any customer that! My boss would have had my head! I don't mean this meanly but tellers are the low man on the totem pole! They have at least 3 people to answer to: their head teller, the assistant mgr. and the bank manager. That is the chain of command. Don't stop at the teller's refusal, know this: you have standing because you are a customer! Don't be afraid to ask the mgr why don't they want your business! Of course, be nice about it, but stand your ground! If it was me, I'd go right back to the same branch! If they know you are coming, they can prepare for you, as they should. A lot of these things mentioned are what we used to call: the cost of doing business! Don't worry about the banks cost. Thats their worry, not yours. One more piece of advice, if you want to, roll back the coins in their wrappers, it can be done..Unroll both ends, and push them out instead of ripping them, or just undo one end and shake them out. If you only get one coin to keep out of a roll, put the other 49 back, and put another one in from your stash that is not a keeper. Takes a little bit of time, but so what? You will get faster the more you do it, promise! Happy hunting everyone! :)

I do love finding the 1919's. It is the highest mintage from the teens and the one I've found most in bank boxes. Have fun and happy hunting!

I’ve gotta have one of these scopes. My magnifying glass sucks. My eyes kill after looking at coins for a while. Thanks for the video!

Have the same scope. Use it for cleaning my ancient roman coins. Great device. Also, Goldback came in today. Late Christmas for me!

OK, stupid question time. I am new to coin collecting and roll hunting and in the last few months I have purchased 2 different, expensive, USB microscopes one even had it's own screen. Nothing I could do would get the microscope to show a descent picture, it was always had way to much contrast and the ring light on the scope reflects off the brighter coins and makes it impossible to get a descent photo. One last thing, I could never get the scope to show the entire coin, not from a penny, a dime nothing, and forget about taking photos of American Eagles. I believe either the distance from the scope to the coin is too short, even at it's maximum height, and / or the magnification is too great even at the smallest, 10x, setting it has. Now for the question...Any ideas how the scope you use would work on these issues, I noticed a ring of light on your coin images but I did not know if that was from the scope or your camera. Sorry this is such a long message, but I wanted you to know everything that happened and I need answers before I purchase my 3rd scope. Thanks for your help.
