I was introduced to Blue October by my son in late 2009. At first I viewed them as a good band and did not really follow them too seriously. Then in 2012 I went back to college and my marriage had collapsed and was ending. I was sitting in the Illinois State University computer lab staring at my paper for theatre studies when for some reason Fear popped up on my recommended listening. I shrugged and shut off Mozart and listened; by the time it was over, I had a lump in my throat, stomach was tight and a couple tears had snuck out and were making their way down my cheeks. I was overwhelmed with emotion and had to leave the lab. I started to listen to everything Blue all the way back to the beginning. My first concert with them was at the Castle Theatre in Bloomington, IL, May 2014 with Zeale and Matthew Mayfield. Have been to every one of his Peoria visits since. Thank you Justin, for your voice, your passion and your music. It pulled this old soldier out of the depths. My concert wish is to follow you guys for a couple months when all the social control programs are finally set aside. Godspeed.

absofuckinloutly love listening to justin in blue October and on his own. I listen to him for hours a day and night and totally relate to him so much. I've been clean from coke for almost 2 years now and his music and lyrics have been so instrumental in my recovery. Also the song hate me made me want to get clean in the first place because I felt every word of it. He's a shining star in my life. At 11:58 Justin begins "Hate Me" but not as you've heard it, that bangin' raw awesome version, but instead this is done in an acoustic, more measured, and more soulful in my opinion version that is beautifully done. He says he originally wrote it to be sang like this but it was nearly a 7 minute long song so he paired it down. I was always (and still am) nuts about the popularized version already but I also really love this version. Thanks so much for sharing it.

ive loved your music for many years now, a every time I listen I feel so connected that it free's me and allows me to express what my own words can't say. almost two decades together and 7 years gone by waiting for him to catch up and free him self of the life of active edition as I did, but he can't let go of that life.
