When I was speaking about upgrade path in regards to Z370, I was meaning that you will require a Z370 if you want to overclock with an 8600K so it gives you that path up.
With a B350 you also have an upgrade path all the way up to an 1800x, I thought that most of you we're aware of that but I should have made that more clear, sorry about that.
Also you need to remember that a Z370 is a far superior motherboard to a B350, obviously AMD made the X370 to compete with the Z370 in terms of features so that needs to be considered.

Good to see a fellow tech tuber who also makes their audience suffer though sickness with them ;)

Can we just ignore the fanboy debate for a second and appreciate the fact that even entry level buyers have options.

Also just my two cent, but if your going to go for cheap, go all the way and get a R3 1200; 97% the performance of the R3 1300X for 83% the cost.

Good review.

I'd like to point out that the AMD board also has an upgrade path to the R5 and R7 processors. Did I miss something?

In my country i3 8100 cost almost twice than 1300x not mentioned that cheapest z370 board are twice the price than asrock b350 mobo..

Rough comment section.

We can point fingers and blame each team for their baggage.

AMD gives us a great option today and intel responded.

Allegiance aside we all win, finally! Both sides have great solutions 👍

hey Intel, why we can't overcloack i3 8100??

intel's ans: Coz u don't need it !!

The issue is not the CPU's themselves, it is what they need for support. The cheapest coffee lake boards are about $100 and the cheapest boards for zen are around $40. That price difference could get you a R5 1600 for the same price as an 8100 when you factor everything in.

No one ever goes the upgrade path. Why get an expensive i3 "they all are" then throw it away to get an i5/7. Budget king is the Ryzen 3. Btw, I run a Gsync setup and spent a lot on it but I still love Amd.

I am waiting for Ryzen + to upgrade my cpu and mother board. Why am I going AMD? Because my 6700k @ 4.6ghz on a Z170 motherboard requires I purchase a new motherboard and cpu for my next upgrade.

Ryzen + will offer me an additional 2 cores, the clocks will be around 4.6ghz, and the SMT will be superior to the hyper threading of my 6700k. Why am I upgrading? Because I want to be on the right side of history, I want to support the company that went from bankrupt to killing off Intel's entire i5 and i3 lineup.

Cool vid as usual. I think you are going to have to start doing the 1%/min/max with frame tests due to some cpu/gpu's having higher top end frames with lower minimums and even stuttering problems. Also I would like to see benchmarks done with a load of programs running in the background for a true test of multitasking performance as most people will run software for their peripherals, temps, steam, chat software (while skype is connected) etc. It's like a car manufacturer showing how well it works on a perfect race track, but horrible on normal roads. Just something different to consider that other tech channels never address.

Great video 👍... but can we have a benchmark comparison with a mid level graphics(nobody pairs i3 with a 1080ti) card so that I can compare the performance difference in a real world scenario.. w.r.t the money I will spending more/ saving.. Thanks in advance👍👍

Good watch and I was a little surprised the i3 @ 3.6 beat the overclocked 1300x as often as it did. Seems like a pretty similar experience overall, but a win is a win.

You did mention features the the z370 had over the b350 but I think you only followed through with the upgrade path (most people know a B350 gets you overclocking and supports all CPUs). What other features does the z370 have over the b350? I'm only aware of SLI support and (likely) higher quality components...are there others?

On an aside, I'd have a hard time buying a lower-end Ryzen right now with (desktop) Raven Ridge out in a few months with a modest IGP, fewer "cross core" issues with only one ccx, and maybe some fancy new tech or benefits from process maturation, etc. Of course, you can always wait on what is just around the bend, I guess...and never buy anything.

Hope you feel better!

the big problem that the 8100 has, is the motherboards. you have to buy exoensive z370 boards and you cant even overclock it

I would pick the 1300x due to the upgrade path

I agree with Intel being the better deal but I would suggest getting a real good x370 board with a ryzen 1200 and then wait for ryzen 2 to come out. AMD has a much better upgrade path and Intel has proven to be untrustworthy with yearly socket upgrades.

there is one thing though regard to intel platform is that you can't guarantee it is future support for new cpus that's coming. AM4 platform will be at least supported for 5 years more. look at the z270 and the new z370.

I got the 1600 for $189 and this is a six core 12 threads CPU.
