Found a nice Amethyst Crystal while trenching a field in South Carolina!

I've only dug for crystals around Mount Ida and Hot springs Arkansas. My niece found a clear quartz about that size in the tailing where we allowed to dig. I found several clusters of clear quartz. What we found didn't need polishing, just clearing off the clay. If you want to dig or just buy, it's a good place to go. If you want to venture a little farther, you would be fairly close to Queen of diamonds state park.

Idk south Carolina had gems like that . But I've heard north Carolina is loaded with all kinds of goodies. And to the south you have Dahlonega Georgia with lots of gold.

Amethyst is one of my favorite crystals. Also, I was so shocked to see it come to the video game Minecraft in actual crystal form in the caves and it’s pretty neat. Every time I see it endgame I think of the real deal in real life.

Must be a good bit of clusters of these in the Piedmont of the Carolinas in general, we used to take field trips to Hidnite Gems and it seemed it was one of the more common finds or some of the bigger historical finds were Amethyst. Almost anyone from NC or SC who lives within an hour of that place has probably been on a field trip there.
