This was interesting Rhetty, many of these symbols I had never seen before. That is why old cemeteries are so fascinating, all the ornate markers.

This was a beautiful piece of work! Enjoyed it on many different levels -- the symbols, the information, the photography, the music -- just great, all around, Rhetty!
I'm 51 - with no intentions of dying just yet, LOL - but I already have my grave marker set in a little country, road-side cemetery in the Berkshires in Western Mass where I'll be laid to rest with my three parents. My mom (still living) and step-father (now deceased) share one marker, and my biological father (also now deceased) and myself share another marker. My father was a huge fan of Jazz music so I had a musical note engraved in one corner for him, and I've been an animal lover my whole life so I had a paw print engraved in another corner for me.
I enjoy the more personal symbols on markers when I'm exploring cemeteries -- even though I don't know the people buried there, the symbols make it possible to take away a little factoid about their lives which I always appreciate.
🇺🇸 Happy Memorial Day! Have a great weekend!!!

This was a really cool and interesting one. I was a hospice nurse for many years. I learned a couple new things; I will have to do some research. Thanks for this one.

I welcome all types of history, and knew a few of these, but as I get older, I need refreshment reminders. LOL Yes, I also love these old tombstone arts, it's amazing how talented these artist were. The epitaphs were also so unique, and haunting, at times. Thanks Rhetty.

Excellent video. I enjoyed learning symbols I did not understand. Cemeteries are a beautiful reminders of family and friends gone, but not forgotten. My family has tradition of visiting family graves several times a year. The Warren-Power cemetery we can start from the back of the cemetery and walk every row and tell a story of the community since the turn of the last century. The length is as long as a city block. Beautiful, peaceful place.

Cool informative video! There's a lot more interesting iconography on the old stones in the Northeast from the 1600s-1700s- a lot of them conveyed messages to a populace much less literate than today.
