I think the other point missed is the distance covered by the SAS over the desert and Occupied territory

The fact that they had traveled thousands of mile by desert with trucks still to this day has an impact on us. They developed the overflow tanks that are on every vehicle made today

A year or so ago I drove by a house that was being cleaned out and on the front lawn were boxes of free books. I had to stop and rescue a few. Among those that I took was a book titled SAS Rogue Heroes. The things those men accomplished were amazing. I hadn’t realized that the Brits were pretty alone in their efforts against Hitler at this time. Wonderfully amazing men. I recommend that you read about them.

Imagine thinking you're under air and naval attack and it turns out to be 6 dudes in trucks

Every time I see something about those teams, the first thing that comes to mind is that they don't mess around and are not to be messed with. Interesting video, thanks.

So who's going to win, a heavily defended Air base or 6 men with Vicker guns strapped to their Jeeps

"Paddy" Robert Blair Mayne lunatic Irishman, should've been awarded the VC several times over but was too disruptive and too efficient at dispatching the enemy for the "Brass"

I don't know why but a favorite American tv show in the 1960's for me when i was a kid was The Rat Patrol...about raids on german air bases in north africa..i think that was SAS type raids no?

Violence of action is what we call it now. When going up against an enemy with a numerical advantage you use overwhelming amounts of fire, move quickly, and strike from several different positions. It confuses the enemy and gives them the perception that they’re under attack by far more soldiers than they actually are. When not in a raid scenario where you just want to do as much damage as you can then pull back you can often cause a much larger force to route and flee.

I remember reading about this, they loading up their machine guns with nothing but incendiary rounds and focused their guns on only shooting the aircraft and nothing else. They didn’t train one gun on a single German, it was all about the aircraft and it was start at one end of the line of aircraft and come out on the other end of the parked aircraft.

"The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" chronicles the origin of the SAS black ops program.

This is the start of special operations in warfare. The SAS started it all and they were able to make a big difference

Never judge what a small group of soldiers can do!

No mention of the "Long Range Desert Group".
They were very involved along with the SAS in those years

The quality of the English soldiers. We French are better off not fighting them anymore.
