Amazon Kindle Fire Hands-On - BWOne.com

We get a hands-on demo of the Amazon Kindle Fire. The top model of the Kindle family sports a 7 inch IPS display, a dual core processor, runs android 2.3 gingerbread with a heavily customized UI on top of it and weighs in at a very light 14.6 ounces.

The Kindle Fire is set to bring in all of Amazon's services into one device. iI takes advantage of Amazon MP3, Amazon Cloud Music Player, Kindle eBook, Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Cloud Storage to give you a fully features experience. It looks to be a smooth running device with a slick and intuitive interface can't wait to get a review unit of it.

@quack18 You have to remember that the iPod touch also has 2 cameras on it, plus it can do everything that the kindle fire can do. It might not have as long of a battery life, but it does have retina display, which looks better than the kindle fire's screen. And if you look at the size comparison, the iPod touch is smaller, but has things that the fire doesn't. I don't know about speed on the fire, but the iPod touch still runs very fast.

I am REALLY tempted to get this...but then again, honestly, if you have a laptop and a ipod already..it kind of defeats the purpose of the original kindle which was to read on the go. It's flashy and everything but...Kindle or Kindle touch is something I would go for.

@Macsk8ing Yea, its a normal tablet. It's not as powerful and gadget-filled as the ipad. Also, its screen isn't as large. However, when taking into consideration of the price tag, I would say this device is well worth the price. It still can do a ton of stuff.

@attu89 yes, I would think that this would be good for that purpose. If you're going for mainly reading though, I would advise a keyboard kindle. I have one, and it is easy on the eyes. It works very well for just reading. The fire won't be easy on the eyes because it's backlit, but it is good for watching movies and surfing the web. If you are looking for things on the go though, you should probably go with something like the iPad. It has a bigger screen, and it has twice as much on bo

The problem I see with this is that Amazon is going to have to unveil a next Gen kindle that has 3G, and of course faster processor(s) and so forth. Whether that will be a Kindle Fire 2 or what not or just simple modifications and it's price is the real question.

Please. No need to use vulgar language. The size is great if you are looking for gaming or a music player. The retina display enhances that to an awesome level, making gaming just fun. And comparing a car to a bike is a good one actually, just the car is slow an not much faster then the bike. Even a bike can go places that a car cannot. My iPod touch runs excellently, and it can handle large PDFs, plus it has iCloud which can pull a document off of my iPod onto my computer.

@samanthabug1987 you can upload your stuff from itunes or what ever to amazon but i think its limited. Amazon prime is kinda like hulu and netflix together and no you dont pay for it every time you watch it its $79 for the year from what i believe.

Wish it was at least 9". This size isn't particularly good for viewing video content. Might have to wait till next year when the larger version comes out.

Anyone know if I can upload media I all ready own like music/movies onto a Kindle Fire or do I have to buy it from Amazon to be able to play it?
And the Amazon Prime membership just opens the movies/music libraries to larger selection but you still have to buy/rent right? Nothing free or free streaming? Just curious.
