Brit Kim Wide was not even 21 when she scored her first huge success with 'Kids In America'. Two years later in 1983 and 6 U.K hits on, 'Love Blonde' was the first release from her 3rd long player 'Catch As Catch Can' and also saw her inaugural 12 inch mix to be issued in her own country; with only Europe having enjoyed some remixes of her earlier singles. 'Love Blonde' was a little different in form and feel to the more synth pop hits like 'Chequered Love' and 'Water On Glass' and it was only a moderate success for her. Reaching #23 in England, it made #32 in Australia.

This longer version is hardly generous in duration but it was nearly a minute longer than the album one and nearly 90 seconds more than the 7 inch record. 'Love Blonde' is a great postcard from 1983 where pretty much every type of music and vibe was being played and released. Kim Wilde's career endured well into the next decade and beyond. But for me, she will always be best known for 'Kids In America'. Although Kim never reached the #1 spot in her homeland, she did score 7 in the Top 10 - and a pair of #2's. (the other being her brilliant cover of 'You Keep Me Hanging On' - which made #1 here in Australia)
