imagine dying while trying to beat a world record, then when you make it to heaven you find out you didn't even break it. regret in a whole new level.

Ah, those books you borrowed during library class to avoid being forced to read, good times

i stopped liking those books after a mean boy i hated in in 3rd grade told me about his world records, my logic back then was ‘if he could get one, it doesn’t matter’

hi, pinely, my dear friend. i can’t help but agree that it was a little bullshit as they literally made the record up just so i can get it LMAOOO

also, i had 4 records at my peak!

Honestly, the most surprising thing about the the Guinness and its relationship with Turkmenistan is that out of all of the records set in or by Turkmenistan, only one of them - fastest 10m by a horse on hind legs (4.19 seconds) - involves Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow and a horse.

The guy owns over 600 horses with those horses specifically being Akhal-Tekes; a breed of horse that Berdimuhamedow owns around 10% of. He's also gifted Akhal-Tekes to multiple other world leaders, written poetry and multiple books about Akhal-Tekes, and has instructed officials to do extra checks on journalists at the airport he fell off a horse during an event in an attempt to ensure no one could see him fall of the horse. The fact there is _only one_ world record involving him and horses is genuinely unbelievable.

15:00 there is something so ungodly funny about this guy just getting a random dm telling him he won a bs world record years ago and he just has absolutely *no idea* what he's talking about

We all know there is only one man keeping Guinness world records afloat: Tommy Tallarico. His mother is very proud.

I knew the woman who had the longest nails. One day she was in a car accident and all of her nails broke off, people did not rush to make sure she was OK, they rushed to pick up pieces of her nails.

Guinness World Records feels like an NFT. It only has purpose bc one organization says so althought many people can achieve it

I always assumed that "Ripley's believe it or not" was named after the Alien movies lady.

my job did not one but TWO of those corporate “records” last year. they sent an adjudicator and everything to verify it. i fully believe that they fudged the numbers to give them the record anyway since it’s a money-making thing for them but even then, the record is SO SPECIFIC to my job that i don’t even know if anyone could break it if they wanted to lmao

Amazing that Pinely would give exposure to smaller creators like Evil Pinely. Honest Pinely is the best.

my middle school broke the record for largest game of leap frog and they never even listed the new record. not in the book or on their website. it's been a decade and I'm still upset about it.

it’s nice to see pinely and evil pinely were able to settle their differences and make a video together

My blind grandmother spent her free time over many many year making a super long necklace while listening to the radio, when she finally submitted it for world record it was denied because it did not have a consistent color pattern.

Lemme tell ya those Guinness books along with Ripley's Believe It or Not were the key to instant popularity in elementary/middle school. If you shelled out an arm and leg at the book fair (around $24 each) everyone suddenly wanted to be your friend.
