Today I actually did have a patient who came in as a walk in concerned about his tooth being chipped/ filling came off but had no pain. He even brought the piece that fell off thinking we were going to place it back on his tooth. When I saw inside the mouth I saw he had a lot of tarter build up. He will be returning for a cleaning.

Hi whitney, i'm 15 yrs old i have little swelling in my lower gums of 4 teeth i also have some tartar behind my lower teeth i told my dad to take me to dentist for removal of tartar so that i can start oral hygine routine newly and in correct way i dont floss but i've recently ordered it online but whenever i tell my dad i want to get my tartar removed he says that u r still small and it can ruin ur teeth coz once he went for scaling when he was young the dentist actually did scale his teeth as well which caused visible lines on his teeth so what should i do i dont understand or should i skip going to dentist and start flossing will it help me coz i dont want to ruin my teeth lifetime pls help

This happened to me but it was my amalgam filling in my molar. But it was tiny bits that came off that I saw on my tongue. I think I bit down incorrectly when eating and I heard a loud crunchy sound which scared me 😢
