Taking inspiration from the incredible Private Stock and Core McCarty 594 Singlecut models, this S2 guitar offers instantly-comfortable playability. With its comfortably-shaped Mahogany Body and Maple cap, the guitar delivers a naturally warm and resonant tone, with plenty of high-end snap. In addition to this, the Mahogany neck sports a Pattern Vintage profile, and is capped with a bound Rosewood fingerboard.

The 594 in the guitar's name is derived from its 24.594" scale length - which ensures the guitar remains in tune and is intonated the entire length of the neck, whilst offering increased comfort for your fretting hand.

The S2 is an awesome option for anyone that wants a US made PRS, but can’t afford a $4, 000 core model. I was fortunate to get one of the last S2 McCarty custom 24-08 models from their 35th anniversary run, for only $1500 brand new. It resonates like crazy. Those 58/15LT pickups are some of the best I’ve ever heard.

This S2 is a really nice guitar! However at $2000 it is not budget friendly. The $1200 Indonesian SE line is budget friendly and used can be found for around the $800 Canadian mark.

At the time this video was made, the SE version of the McCarty .594 hadn't released yet. You can tell when he said it, he wasn't that sure himself. Honestly looking back, the S2 version sucks for the price. I'm a cheap bastard, and chose the SE singlecut standard in vintage cherry. Then upgraded the tuners and all electronics except the pickups. I've got under a grand into it with a Gator deluxe TSA chainsaw case and Schaller straplocks. It may not cost $4600 like a core, but who gives a shit when it looks, feels, and sounds better than any other guitar like it I know of? Great mod platform that already comes with excellent pickups.
