Join us for this episode of our popular Ask the Experts series where I chat with Laura Olmsted Lead Genetic Genealogist, Executive Director, and Founder of DNAngels along with Aimee Rose Haynes Lead Genetic Genealogist at DNAngels.

Laura is DNAngels’ Founder and Executive Director/Lead Genealogist. What began as a labor-of-love venture has now solved over 5,000 cases as a full-fledged 501(c)(3) non-profit. Laura is a member of the National Genealogical Society, NGS, and the International Society of Genetic Genealogy, ISOGG. She has taken multiple certificate courses through the National Genealogy Society and attended numerous webinars and workshops. Laura was one of the keynote speakers at the 2022 Illinois State Genealogy Society Annual Conference and has been interviewed by Herb Cohen with Executive Leaders Radio, the New York Times, and ABC News amongst many others. Laura has made it a personal mission to help others navigate their newfound knowledge and identify answers and closure.

Aimee is Lead Genetic Genealogist/Associate Director of DNAngels. Aimee is an accomplished writer, presenter and researcher. She delivered a compelling presentation at the 2023 Ohio Genealogical Society conference, delving into the intriguing realm of "Forensic Genetic Genealogy." Aimee's specialization lies in DNA cases that span 1-3 generations, allowing her to identify ancestral lines from grandparents to great-great-grandparents. She possesses a unique skill set that enables her to prove or disprove Native American heritage. As an enrolled citizen in the Cherokee Nation, a federally recognized Native American tribe, Aimee has made it her personal mission to reunite lost Native cousins with their tribes and help them rediscover their cultural roots. Her dedication to this cause is truly commendable.

20 years ago I was visiting archives, libraries and trying to find records. I was in Utah at the Family Library when they announced their 10 year goal of putting microfilms online. Amazing and what a change it's brought!

Aimee and DNAngels helped me find the lineage of my grandmother from the 1890's using DNA and Ancestry. What I had worked with for years they solved in days. Love you guys and the closure that your hard work brings.

How do you research a great grandmother who, according to family lore, was a "little French woman from Alsace Lorraine" who was adopted? We have descendants but no ancestors.
