FULHAM VS CHELSEA 3-2: Goals and highlights FA Youth Cup Final

Fulham will take a narrow advantage over Chelsea across west London in The FA Youth Cup Final second leg next week, after a pulsating second half at Craven Cottage saw them edge this game by the odd goal in five.

It looked as though luck was going against Steve Wigley's side during their home leg, with Moussa Dembele wasting a first-half penalty and then seeing England U16s winger Jay DaSilva put Chelsea ahead early in the second half.

But three goals in ten minutes turned the tie around to put Fulham in control ahead of next Monday's return clash at Stamford Bridge.
Dembele, Emerson Hyndman and Cameron Burgess were all on the mark to give the Cottagers a slender lead, but a late strike from Chelsea's Charly Musonda was enough to make things interesting.

Chelsea had settled into the game quickly on a pleasant night by the Thames and Fulham 'keeper Marek Rodak had to be on his toes in the first ten minutes, saving twice to deny Charlie Colkett and Jordan Houghton in quick succession.

His best stop came in the tenth minute, when Izzy Brown's deflected shot from the left looked to have wrong-footed the Slovakian but fortunately for Fulham the ball clipped off his shin and over the bar.

At the other end, Dembele was denied by a fine last-ditch tackle from Andreas Christensen after he'd managed to side-step him in the area, only to see the ball nicked away just as he was about to shoot.

The French striker really should have put Fulham in front after 30 minutes, when England U17s ace Patrick Roberts had too much for Ola Aina and was tripped in the box after skipping inside the left-back.

But Dembele tried to be too clever with his spot-kick though, as his chipped attempt clipped the top of the cross-bar and went over, much to the relief of Blues 'keeper Bradley Collins who was deputising for Mitchell Beeney following his call-up for first-team squad duty.

And Fulham were almost made to pay for that five minutes later when Dominic Solanke slipped a shot past Rodak only to find Burgess well placed behind him to clear the danger and then bravely block Brown's follow-up.
Burgess put his body on the line again five minutes before the break, when his shoulder diverted another Houghton effort over the bar as Chelsea ended the first half on top without making the breakthrough.

Chelsea picked up where they left off after the break and it took less than five minutes for them to edge ahead, as Brown picked out DaSilva in the area from where he drilled a low, angled shot past Rodak and into the far corner.

The goal seemed to give the young Blues another gear and with DaSilva and Brown providing an outlet for the rangy passing of captain Ruben Loftus-Cheek either side of Solanke, they were looking increasingly dangerous.

But Fulham turned the tie on its head with two quickfire goals to catch Chelsea cold.
Firstly, Dembele made up for his earlier miss by meeting sub Dean O'Halloran's corner with a thunderous header to level things up.

And less than two minutes later they took the lead as midfielder Emerson Hyndman broke unchallenged from midfield before firing a left-footer in off the post via a cruel deflection.

The comeback was complete in the 79th minute when another O'Halloran flag-kick was delivered, with skipper Liam Donnelly nodding the ball back into the area where Burgess was on hand to head home, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Chelsea responded though and Rodak had to make a top save to deny DaSilva's diving header, before the resulting corner was worked to sub Musonda on the left.
He teased his way into the box, before firing through a crowded box and past the unsighted Rodak to set things up nicely for the second leg in seven days.

From the highlights, the that Roberts guy shows some promise, in a couple years maybe he'll move to the main team? seeing it is in shambles now.
