2021 was truly a remarkable year for paleontology. I can't even count the many amazing discoveries we've made in the field in the last 12 months.

Gotta love how they backloaded two major discoveries this year with this ichthyosaur and the Dino embryo both being announced this week

It's great seeing Goodeids get the spotlight! The story behind these fish is incredible. Most of these fish are critically endangered, and are being kept alive by aquarists. I'm one of them! I have a breeding colony of Z. tequila in my fish room, along with 3 other critically endangered goodeids. And before I get a comment, the fish are endangered due to invasive species being brought in and their waters being polluted/diverted/drained. They were brought into the aquarium hobby to save them. And it worked!

With such massive Ichthyosaurs so early, the eventual blue whale sized Lilstock Shastasaurus seems more and more plausible.

Ichtyosaurs are underrated prove me wrong!
I seriously wonder even if one relic lineage managed to exist until The Infamous Extinction event

The Tequilafish story stands out the most, though I came for the Ichtheosaur.
I like Goodeiids Splitfins) and their relatives the Cyprinodonts (Killies) and Poecillids (Livebearers).

I got to see the Cymbospondylus skull in person 8 days ago and it was the coolest thing ever! People were walking past the display without even glancing at it, and I was like “THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SCIENTIFIC STUDY MADE TWO DAYS AGO. WHY YOU IGNORE”

Nice finish Doug! All decorated and superb diction to boot! Thanks for the the year of great videos! The teaser at the end showing "The Studio", which appears to be the hallway of an apartment building, hints at a housing crisis where videos are produced in random public spaces or Doug has a cooking show that speculates how dinosaurs could be resurrected to alleviate world hunger. Whatever, it will be fantastic!
