While on a survey trip in the mountains, a young man came across a little girl carrying a basket and struggling to pick vegetables. Seeing how tired she was, he walked over to ask her what was going on. She told him she was picking vegetables to feed the pigs. The girl was only 12 years old and lived with her parents and two younger brothers. Because her mom was sick, she had to help with a lot of chores. Feeling sorry for her, the young man helped carry the basket of vegetables back to her house. When they got there, he saw how difficult life was for the family. The girl was in 5th grade, and her two younger brothers were still in kindergarten and elementary school. Noticing her torn school bag, he gave her and her sister new school bags and some school supplies, telling them to keep studying hard.Before leaving, he met the girl’s sick mother, who had trouble walking. After talking with her, the young man decided to give the family some gifts to help the mother get better and to buy clothes and books for the kids.
