Los Santos 10 Years Later is Unimpressive…

*THIS IS NOT ME COMPLAINING*

Los Santos has been around for a very long time now, I was in elementary school when I first laid eyes on it and now I’m about graduate high school. And through all that time Los Santos has aged not so well in many aspects. There is almost no true evolution on the map with the Diamond Casino being the only major building to have truly changed since release. We will dive further into this topic in today’s video so let’s begin.

I'm fine with LS but I still wish all of the towns in the county were at least 4 times bigger instead of all those boring mountains.

The real “under construction” tower in Los Angeles (Ritz Carlton building) has been done for 14 years now 🥴

Gta 5's map is unimpressive because two thirds of it is empty mountains and grass.

One thing I’ve always hated about GTA5’s map is the fact you’re always going past the same 3 areas to traverse the map vertically, either past Fort Zancudo, Stab City or The Prison, after 11 years that problem to me has really started to stand out so bad. But I think it’s just the fatigue of having played the same playable area for nearly half my life

It feels like Los Santos is encased in a large dome, forever stuck in the year 2013.

Rockstar had over 10 years and 2 console generations to give us map expansions and updated traffic but all we got was Cayo Perico which you can't even freeroam on. They could've updated the police with better uniforms and mk2 weapons etc. Instead it's a weird mix and match of a 2013 map and missions that take place in the 2020s.

They'll finish that building once a modder does it and goes viral for it. They only do that stuff when people "One up" them somehow.

Los angeles is a city so wasted, so many things they should’ve added, mansions, the new building, clubs, dealers etc honestly I hope gta 6 will be much more alive

I do like the map, but I'm ready for something new: GTA 6.

I don’t mean to be rude but I’m genuinely sick of people complaining about the mile high club.. so I’ll keep this short and simple, within the universe (the lore) WE ARE THE REASON the mile high club never gets finished. In story mode we are hired to assassinate the project manager/building owner meaning they need to find a new owner, then within online we are also hired to assassinate the new owner, we also rob the building of building equipment and I’m not just talking about Cayo, the mile high club will never be done because any owners of it come up dead because we keep killing them

Also yes whilst rockstar maybe a billion dollar company…they have about 2, 000 (-3, 000) employees across ALL their studios, that includes developers, artists, director, visual effects, motion cap teams…. So whilst yes they have a lot of money….they have a small team still working GTA 5 they got at most couple hundred people working on ALL parts of the game (meaning about 30 actual devs IF that)

There are times when I'll gaslight myself into finding "hidden" areas or secret things in the map, and I never do, because Rockstar refuses to update the map beyond business properties.

One thing I didn’t like is that they didn’t try to make parts of the map more accurate to the original game. A few more streets for the gangs, a more accurate grove street, madd dogs mansion, Long Beach, etc..

I get it’s a different universe, but it would have made the games map last longer.

It's a relief to know someone else's favorite two story games are gta4 and RDR2

Los Santos is the perfect example of America. A stagnant mess.

The reason why Rockstar doesn't update the map is because GTAV was never supposed to be a live service game and they didn't expect GTA Online to blow up like it did, they though it would have just been a multiplayer mode like GTAIV's multiplayer mode. Rockstar is the kind of company that just moves on to the next project once they are finished with one. Once they finish a game they go straight to the next which is also the reason why they make sure that their games are as polished and complete as possible because they don't want to have to deal with going back and fixing things with patches.

If Rockstar worked the other way around, then they would have still been updating GTAIV after GTAV came out and they would have still been updating RDR2 to this day, but they don't because they want to release complete packages and move on to the next. So if they mess something up with one of their games, than too bad, sucks, they'll try to do better in the next one. It is fair to complain about them not doing more substantial updates to the map in GTA Online since they turned that game into a live service, but given that the game is now 10 years old and that Rockstar clearly didn't really plan for all of this ahead back in 2013, it's understandable that they haven't really done anything especially since now it's also way too late.

Glad someone brought this up! Because LA, and bigger cities in general, are constantly evolving. Los Santos has not, and that kills the immersion big time. Same billboards from 2013 too. Josh Bernstein is freaking dead, Sue Murry is probably retired, no new film advertisements, and since we're Ghostbusters now, odds are we'll solve Jolene's murder soon, so Jock's billboards will need to be taken down after that. And if they ever complete the Mile High Club, it needs to make world history within the GTA universe. I'm talking taller than the Burj Khalifa like the Syndicate Tower in Saints Row The Third is. For reference, Syndicate Tower is about 3100/944.88 feet/meters tall. Absolutely terrible for my moderate megalophobia, but it's so awesome.

I feel like this sentiment wouldn’t really exist if GTA 5 wasn’t the new GTA game for 10 years. I feel like even a few years ago people were talking about how GTA 5 still has one of the best open worlds compared to games today trying to copy it, but now that people are tired of GTA 5 it seems like the sentiment is flipping.

I’ll never be convinced this is a large map.

Having been playing this game since 2013 I can completely relate to and agree with this video. It would have taken this game into the stratosphere to see the map update and evolve over time. We are not asking for complete building damage that stays because that would be horrible, but to see buildings get built up and completed it would have been beyond amazing.

Their decision not to release all online features like businesses, enterable buildings, cayo perico and heists for single player mode, was absolutely pathetic
