President Obama announced Merrick Garland as his Supreme Court nominee to replace Antonin Scalia. But will the GOP be a SCOTUS blocker? They want to wait 11 months until a new president is sworn in.

The senate has the constitutional right to deny any supreme court nominee. Why don't we hear anyone saying this?

Once again Obama disappoints trying to satisfy Republicans. Deciding not to appoint a black woman just one more example of why I lost faith in him.

Then-Senator Barack Obama said in 2006 that he supported the Democratic-led filibuster to stop Justice Samuel Alito from making it to the Supreme Court.

0bama said,  "There are some who believe that the president, having won the election, should have complete authority to appoint his nominee…that once you get beyond intellect and personal character, there should be no further question as to whether the judge should be confirmed. I disagree with this view."

On this point, I totally agree with 0bama.

They should at least be a hearing even if he's denied which I don't personally believe he's qualified. I wouldn't vote for him but the senate needs to do their job.

Garland is Jewish, Sotomayor's mother is Jewish. That would make 5 out of 9 justices Jewish. Considering they are 2% of the population I would say that is quite enough.

I don't usually agree with conservatives on much but considering that Obama is so incompetent when it comes to politics I think any SCOUS pick made by Obama will be a bad pick
