I will forever miss this series.. This show was amazing in every way possible. Raymond was someone i wish i had as a father, smart, brave and do what ever to protect the ones he love. Im glad he didn't get shot by liz i almost had a heart attack with all the emotions i was feeling. The way he was lying in that dirt was to funny. I just wish i could've seen all the love they had for him once they found out he died. This was definitely the best tv series ever made

I had the pleasure of just recently discovering this show and being able to binge all 10 seasons. This show was a masterpiece

Just theories, no solid answers from the show

Hints in the show point to him being Rostova, and I'd imagine that's what the showrunners want his identity to be, but my favourite theory that seems more likely, given his capabilities throughout the show: he's original Raymond. The burns he was shown to have early on would have been removed via plastic surgury if it was Katarina. There's a scene when Katarina is in the bathtub while on the run after the fire where she clearly has no burns, even though present day RR has them. This means she definitely wasn't in the fire like he would have been since he was shot and down. How he escaped is anyone's guess, remember they (Ilya and Katarina) didn't recover the body. The DNA that showed the bones were Reddington could have been manipulated much easier than explaining away Rostova's lack of damage or lack of her presence as Raymond around Elizabeth prior to present day (since she won't have abandoned Liz as she was sufficiently disguised), and there are several times when even Rostova and Ilya say "the world thinks RR is dead". Him taking the picture of Rostova and Liz on the swing also lines up neatly with the "you were there" point Liz made. Don't forget that he was also clearly in love with Jennifer's mother, as well as a distinct lack of interest in men, anathema to Katarina's M.O. throughout the show. Then there was Dembe's cryptic phrase about Liz never forgiving him if he found out what they did to Katarina. Not: "she will be agry with you for making her think you were dead". Implying that RR and Dembe actually did something to Rostova that we don't know about. Sure, him being Katarina would be interesting, but it leaves a lot of plot holes that him being RR would solve. And yeah, remember how Rostova and company didn't recover the body, but Kate apparently did on his orders? And remember how Kate Kaplan HATED his guts, although she clearly loved Katarina? And how the friend in the East was his oldest friend, NOT his handler? And then there's Dom, who never once showed that he thought he was Katarina, his own daughter, but apparently resented him for something even though he was clearly the architect of framing Petrova to protect his daughter. Yeah, i don't think he's Liz's mother.

It must be Katarina Rostova. She changed her gender and identity into her deceased husband Raymond Reddington to protect her daughter as well as keeping her secrets safe.

I have a feeling when the show started Raymond was suppose to be her father. As it gained popularity the writers thought the reveal was going to be a let down, so they started hinting at Raymond being....her mother! Unfortunately for the writers they sort of painted themselves in a corner with the earlier episodes that were building up to him being the father so they ultimately did not answer the question. Just my two cents.

There’s so many hints that he’s actually Katarina Rostova but the final thing that’s convinced me is when he’s talking to Agnes and she’s telling him about her crush, he gives her advice and she replies with “you’re being such a mom” and he says “I can’t help it”

Hes 5'10 180 lbs shes 5'5" 120 pounds and hes got a larger build 1980s plastic surgery cant do that.

He’s Katarina. When liz asks why he won’t let her open the letter before she shoots him he says cause she won’t want to shoot him when she’s found out who he was.
