A great performance by Patrick Vieira, and on this occasion, he bossed Roy Keane as Arsenal went on to secure the title at Old Trafford in 2002. This is my input on that day, hope you enjoy!

How can a man of Vieira's size and height make sliding tackles look so innocent and 'soft' he's almost caressing the ball with those slide tackles. Genius.

To have flying kicks thrown at you and still remain so calm and measured takes real character

Roy keane is the definition of a farmer playing football.

I still wonder after 20 years that how he managed to do those beautiful superb tackles without hurting anyone. He was so perfect with the ball. All his movements were sooo beautiful and elegant. A gentle athlete and footballer. I am proud he played for Arsenal.

Vieira was another one of those players who always seemed a couple of steps ahead of most other players, fantastic athleticism but also an amazing football mind.

This is why Vieira was so good. All teams (not just Man Utd) used to target him, but he would still come out on top.

Insane how well he played here whilst having this clear vendetta against him, if this was in todays era united would be down to 9 men

Viera really was something else. So much finesse. Wonderfully balanced and able to switch play so easily. I'd almost forgotten how good he was.

Such a quality player. Great at winning the ball, controlling and finding players with good passes.

Scholes would do some horrific tackles and have a face like he he was disappointed In himself. Pure acting.

That's the power fergie had over the refs, and players like Keane and scholes knew they could get away with hacking away at viera like that

Never understood the reputation of Keane as a hard man. He’s like a kid with too much cheeryade and someone telling him no!

Keane and Scholes would have played not more than 10 games per season if it wasn't for the refs who were supporting Man Utd. Vieira is the best defensive midfilder ever, Keane is just an agressive avegrage ass

It's clear that Vieira schooled Keane that day. His ball control was clearly superior to Keane's. Keane relied more on work rate and aggression. Vieira had a far more sophisticated touch and creative passing

Vieira was such an elegant player. He could get stuck in and win the battle if he had to but once he was on the ball he could really play. Technically gifted. One of the few players who used the croqueta skill move regularly and effectively. He could execute with the same precision as Laudrup/Iniesta etc. Classy footballer.

Keane knew he was beat hands-down and had to resort to aggression in an attempt to even battle. Viera had positional sense, athleticism, pace, agility, excellent passing and ball retention and reading of the game over Keane who was a glorified Vinnie Jones.

Almost forgotten how great he looked. Graceful, surprisingly quick, powerful and great footwork and passing with either foot, and either side of his foot too.

Its so funny how keane gets praised for dirty play but players outside of the prem are completely shat on by fans

I liked Vieira he was an elegant player and one of a kind in his position.

Man U were masters of those dirty little tackles which disrupted play, and demoralised the other team, stopping them from playing, without getting booked.
Of course I think such constant dirty and deliberate fouling should be punished. But I was always ahead of the curve, and it wasn’t then.
