The republic could also start using orbital bombardment to soften up and demoralize enemy targets

Anakin - "Ok so about 20 of us are gonna sprint right to the most defended area here without any backup"

Clone - "Kriffing Plot Armour" *get's taken by a Geo*

1:56 'If they postponed it by a few weeks'. The Republic knew and were right in saying that if the droid factory was finished being built and was producing droids at full capacity, there was absolutely no way that they would have won. As it was, the factory was only at around 60%, and they still suffered heavy losses. They wouldn't have even been able to land on Geonosis at all if any super tanks had been built. They were lucky that the super tanks weren't ready in time for their initial assault. Just sayin'

Video was not a CinemaSins Parody.

Delaying the invasion honestly meant more droids being made, especially those super tanks.

as admiral yularaan said in the the episode, it was a planet wide invasion and they couldn't spare air support.

The Republic Navy could have also softened up the anti-air defenses with a series of tactical orbital bombardments. Then sending in the Y-wing bombers with fighter escort to devastate what remained of hostile ground forces, all before launching the ground assault itself, while of course sending the gunships with substantial fighter escort. End result being the republic forces are left to mop up whatever resistance was able to survive the initial bombardment, a swift victory with minimal casualties for the republic.

You might be underestimating how much of an advantage getting those droid factories up and running would have been for the Geonosiens and CIS, especially considering they were implementing those new super-tanks into production. Considering they could bolster their forces, including their anti-air capability to make landing all the more difficult, and really dig-in their defenses with each passing second, it makes sense as to why the Replublic and Jedi chose to rush to the offensive. Might have made the planning and strategy sub-par, but waiting could have made things far worse. Don't forget that the Geonosiens were fanatically loyal to the CIS, and that the first invasion of Geonosis was a surprise attack the CIS wasn't prepared for but still cost the Republic a lot of casualties.

They still had the lack of proper air support in the initial landing, and, yeah, they really shoulda tried to support the gunships better, including bombing the gun positions before the main assault. Can explain this away though considering in the show they mention how stretched the Republic forces were trying to launch a campaign over the entire planet. So the simple explanation as to why there was a lack of air support was that they didn't have enough fighters to support the assault properly, and couldn't wait for reinforcements.

Where do I begin?

-Launching your transports into heavy flak fire

-Trying to coordinate your infantry like it's the 1700s

-Not starting with an orbital bombardment to take out soft targets and dig up hardened ones

This battle was a mess.

The gunship landing reminds me of WWII bombing runs in the European theatre. B-17 were called a flying fortress for a reason but they were still outclassed by the German fighters. The Allies made sure no bombing run was operated without an escort.

Exactly. If I were to plan out the second battle of Geonosis, I would have scanned the planet and sent scouts in the locate their anti-air turrets and weaponry. I would then bring in the cruisers and send in bombers to take out the anti-air along with fighter escorts to deal with the Geonosian fighters. Then I would bring in the transports low and as close to the ground as possible. As we land in the infantry and armor I would have bombers continue to go out ahead and take out the enemy's armor so the clones will have to face minimal tanks when they approach. I would continuously have air support while the infantry and armor move in on the rendezvous point. Also, I wouldn't have all the jedi in the LAATs. I would have kept Anakin and Ahsoka (or Obi-Wan) in the air providing support. Anakin is one of the greatest pilots so he would have helped keep the air units intact and alive.

I'm no military strategist or anything so if anything is wrong with my plan, please comment below with my mistakes.

If you think about it after the gunships the bugs weren't focused on the air they were focusing on the ground assault
