Gastritis is the inflammation of the stomach lining
Gastritis is of two types of acute gastritis, in which the inflammation develops suddenly, and chronic gastritis in which inflammation of the stomach develops gradually.

Symptoms of Gastritis / Acidity/ gas problems / heart burn
Burning sensation in the upper part of the abdomen, पेट में जलन
Pain and heaviness in the abdomen
Belching
Fullness of abdomen
Nausea
Vomiting
Blood in vomitus and in stools
Black stools
Blood in vomitus and stools and black stools are a medical emergency for which patient has to consult a Gastroenterologist

When to consult a doctor?
if the symptoms don’t get relieved within a week
black stools
blood in vomiting and in stools
symptoms interfere with daily activities
The patient developed severe debility due to symptoms


Causes of Gastritis (पेट में जलन / Acidity/ gas problems / heart burn):
Bad dietary habits and lifestyle like intake of spicy food, fatty and fried foods, junk food, alcohol
Smoking
Mental stress
Lack of sleep
Stomach infection by helicobacter pylori bacteria
Medicines like NSAIDs, steroids, anticancer drugs, antibiotics
Severe infection
Major surgery
Burn
Trauma
Autoimmune gastritis which is associated with Vitamin B12 deficiency, Type 1 Diabetes and other autoimmune diseases



Investigations used to confirm gastritis (पेट में जलन / Acidity/ gas problems / heart burn) and also used in identifying complications:
upper gastrointestinal endoscopy
tests to identify Helicobacter pylori infections which include stomach biopsy, blood test, stool test, breath test
complete blood count
Liver function test
Stool occult blood test

Treatment options for gastritis (पेट में जलन / Acidity / gas problems / heart burn)
Proton Pump Inhibitors which include Omeprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole
H2 blockers which include famotidine, Nizatidine
antibiotics against Helicobacter pylori infection which include amoxicillin, Clarithromycin, Metronidazole
antacids which include a combination of aluminum/ magnesium

My sister has a feeling of heaviness in her stomach. Nausea, fatigue, no energy and low hemoglobin. 2 years ago, he had the same symptoms. We went to the doctor for an abdominal ultrasound.
