Defining the Patient Experience

An innovative short film has been produced by patients, volunteers and staff at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust in order to help improve patients' experiences when they come to hospital.
The film, which is the first of its kind in Europe, uses a simple theme 'You are the patient experience' and has been adopted successfully in Australia and the United States. Intended primarily for NHS staff it reminds everyone in the organisation that no matter what role they are in, they have a critical part to play in a person's experience in what can be the most difficult time of their life.
It will be used over the next year with new starters at the Trust and with existing staff at internal events to remind them that the way they interact with patients can improve care and health outcomes.
