Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is in India, where he has met Indian leader Narendra Modi. Both discussed bilateral ties including technology cooperation, defense equipment and business partnerships. Relations between Tokyo and Delhi have only grown closer in recent years, especially with the emergence of China as a pre-eminent power in the region. What connects the two democracies and how does the Ukraine war affect the ties between Tokyo and New Delhi?

Even before China, India Japan very supportive of each other. India very happy to help Japan with its agenda and vice versa with respect to China.

But after Abe and due to Ukraine, a ceiling has been reached. Next step is mutual defense and just not able to get anywhere close. It is possible in bilateral format than multilateral.

India is pivoting towards quad away from brics, , , , the Indian public though is still suspicious of west (Cause of Pakistan ties) but Modi is definitely trying to strike a balance .Lets hope for the best . I have anyways always had great respect for Japan...they always were friendly to us.
