How Jackie Chan Sold Out

Jackie Chan is a huge childhood hero of mine. I love his movies from past to present and he will always have a place in my heart. That being said, I just learned that Jackie Chan is cursed. Every product he endorses, fails. Check out the video for a deep dive into a fascinating story about early Chinese advertizing campaigns and how Hong Kong superstars capitalized on it, especially Jackie Chan

Correction
0:39 Forgot to adjust the subtitles to the correct time stamp. What he says is "Yi Li Ga. Energy Symbol!" What you see on screen is what he says right after that.

Jackie Chan Bloopers were the coolest thing ever for me as a kid.

You got it backwards, it wasn't Jackie that was cursed it was the type of company that wanted Jackie as a spokesperson.

Companies approach Jackie Chan.
"I don't want any trouble!"
Companies get wrecked.
Jackie gets love.

Makes sense every time.

True story: I was training kung fu in China in 2006 when I walked into Walmart and saw a video of Jackie Chan selling shampoo. I bought it right away. Conclusion: I'm bald.

He chose Jaden Smith as his disciple and the kid now doesn't even have an acting career, truly a brand killer

It's almost like they put all their money into paying Jackie and none into improving their products and services...

Rantoni giving China lore never gets old. Loved it.

It seems the Jackie Chan aspect of promotions is a case of correlation not being causation. He is not the one destroying the brands, its just that only the top bidders can book such a popular celebrity and it is the companies that engage in illicit (or simply risky) activities that were the ones who, of coarse, were the fastest to generate that kind of money and thus were some of the first to buy the most expensive endorsements
And then had the consequences of their poor practices catch up to them

He did an ad for shopee here in brasil, it stayed on air in tv for like 1 year, it was pretty successful. His movies still air on national tv here every other week

I think this is the first time I have heard Jackie Chan speaking Chinese

Tbh I shouldn't blame him on endorsement and product placement, but instead, blame the rampant embezzlement and corruption of said product placement

The 90s Hong Kong stock footage really struck a nostalgic chord. I don't why but it evokes the feeling of skipping school during 90s/00s to enjoy the mornings. Didn't expect to feel this on a Ranton video.

You can tell Rantoni puts a lot of effort in these videos, they're so well structured and paced.

"Jackie Chan, the kiss of death ", would make a great title for a movie.

That's not a curse. Jackie simply seems to choose scammy products/companies to endorse because they are willing to pay more for promotion.

Bro, no joke I just got an ad for the new Karate Kid movie starring Jackie Chan on this video 😂

I don't own a business, I don't own any patents, and while watching this, I wanted Jackie Chan's endorsement.
