Djent back in the early 2010s was such an exciting time, tesseract were definitely at the forefront at that time.

One of the best Meinl Playthroughs ever in the history of this channel. Awesome awesome song and awesome awesome playing. What a great addition to meinl’s roster. Tesseract’s music and jay’s playing really is a perfect combo with Meinl cymbals. These meinls sound wayyyy better in the mix of tesseract as a whole when compared to all the times I’ve heard this song played with his sabian cymbals. But then again whoever mixed this is a beast and that’s also part of it but seen them live numerous times and once recently with his new meinls and the set just sounded better all together being a gearhead and listening to the cymbal tones. The dark trashy meinls just sat perfectly with tesseract and their tuning and their songs.

Really cool to see the evolution of this performance over the last decade. There's a fluidity to Jay's execution here that is hard to match unless you've had a ton of touring experience playing this tune. Nice to compare to the old Century Media Records full band playthrough from 2010 or 2011.

Jay is one of my favorite drummers. And TesseracT is one of my favorite bands. Last night I actually finally played all the way through "smile" with only a couple mess ups 💪💪

What an awesome evolution of this performance from the original album. Watching the years of nuance added to each section is such a treat, not mention the complete mastery honed over all these years it's such a joy to watch!

I've listened to this song maybe a trillion times but I'm still stoked at the musicality of Jay playing and this cymbal set, oh God!

Jay looks so much more comfortable and free on a dynamic kit with all those real cymbals than on his eKit.

Ahh, the djent drummer's mantra: If it ain't swinging, hit it! xD

Man, I love Tesseract so much and Jay's playing is just incredible!

Incredibly creative, powerful and groovy drumming. The cymbals sound great as he puts them through the paces, the stack is sweet.

Proper "I knew him when" moment; I used to have to pay him the money my band at the time owed him for using his rehearsal room. He had hair then and was constantly infuriated by the sight of me 😂 Reading in 2008 truly was the place to be, unlikely as that may seem....
